“The service was excellent and the ambiance is the BEST of BROOKLYN!”
“We usually order baked clams, calamari, lobster bisque soup and zuppa di mussels in the red sauce.”
“This a great place to go for seafood.”
“Bad service - owner did not make amends”
Overpriced and Overdone. Well, after reading some good reviews on Citysearch, we decided to try this local clambar. The raw cherrystone clams were EXCELLENT, but the rest of our meal was below standard. I ordered the muscles and a side of spaghetti; pasta was so overcooked it tasted like glue, and the mushy, overcooked muscles smothered in marinara sauce were sent back uneaten. My husband's broiled fish was similarly overcooked... DON'T BE FOOLED by the other positive reviews. As far as we can tell, their raw clams and oysters are the only edible thing on the menu.
Great soft shell crab and some OK stuffs.......
My friends and I have walked by this place many time in the past and finally find time and tried it out together. We had a very nice and accommendating waitress, that makes our first experience here enjoyable.
The raw clams and oysters are great there, very fresh and tasty. Even the baked clams are good there. You must try their clam chowder, almost all of us had it and we all agreed it is great. Rich and creamy (New England) and you can really see and eat the clams. Unlike other places where you are drinking cream soup and few potatos. I had the Maryland crab cake sandwich, it was pretty good but they can be those prepackaged ones b/c they are way well shaped. But the soft shell crabs are out of this world. They have seasoned it very well (not too much, just enough) and cooked to profession. But watch out for the fried oysters. One of us ordered that, and it was well over seasoned doesn't have any oyster taste, only the seasoning. Shrimps....well they proofed that shrimps should only be eaten as shrimp cocktails. They were over cooked, fresh but tough. We ordered the Shrimp Scampi with pasta. The sauce is very good but the shrimps are ordinally nothing special about them.
The service there is great, good mom and pop place for some good food in a relax home cooking. We were never rushed everything came out and served at the right time. Our waitress checked with us good number of times for us to get what we need and enjoy the food.
We were seated in like 1/2 hour and for a rainy Sunday night it wasn't too bad.
We felt the price was totally worth it on the Clam Clowder, Soft shell crabs and the raw and baked clams because they were sooooooo good. But everything else is OK and some in a bit of over priced especially if they brought them prepacked.
We would recommend anyone to try and if you find a dish you love (like we did) you would go back again and maybe we will see you there.

Best service in Brooklyn - Seafood. the food was great . The service was great. The waitresses were quick in response to your requests. If you like Corn Chowder, their Spicy Crab and Corn Chowder soup is to die for. The owner is always there making sure the customers are satisfied.
Don't be decieved by the looks !.
i was skeptical when i saw the place for the outside. but once i sat down and got by first dish. i was pleasantly suprised. the zuppa di mussels was awesome !

User review by ronnie14. Food is incredibly fresh. Good portions and has been consistent thru the years. I've been at their old and current location. Never a long wait for seating, even during peak summer season. The atmosphere and character is all Brooklyn, in avery positive way. In 35 years, I've never had a bad meal.
Best Seafood in Brooklyn.
Fried Calamari and the sauce are outstanding! Tender and delicious. Lobster Fra Diavlo is the absolute best in New York
Love the Stuffed Shrimp, stuffed with fresh crabmeat. The service was excellent and the ambiance is the BEST of BROOKLYN! The Family makes all feel welcome.
It's The Sauce, Baby!.
If you haven't been to Randazzo's, you haven't been to Sheepshead Bay. It is the last of the old-time clam bars on Emmons Avenue.
The food is wonderful, especially the hot sauce - on anything! Try the "biscuits", hard italian bread covered in a spicy tomato sauce. The pastas with shrimp sauce or lobster sauce are also fabulous.
This is a family place run by a family. Paulie Randazzo makes it feel like you are eating at a table in his own kitchen.
A step back in time.
A remant of Sheepshead Bay's Glory Days, but certainly not the best restaurant of the time. Fresh seafood - stay with the simple dishes.
Most of the food is ok, but the hot sauce is outstanding. Get the plain fried shrimp with the hot sauce. Unbreaded shrimp with a spicy tomato sauce served over a crust of bread.
Very limited menu. No substitutions. No accomidations for changes. I suggested shrimp parmigana, but the would not accomidate me. Instead I had to settle for the plain fried shrimp and a side of spaghetti.
Diner like atmosphere, no credit cards, old time waitresses and servers with attitudes. Regulars and old timers treated very well - there is a definite suspicion of new comers.
you don't have to be old. granted, almost everyone here is from brooklyn and has been eating steamers here for 30 years. I am 26 from california, and I would sit at the bar and eat mussels and fried zucchini w/ oily-as-hell hot sauce on the side anytime. Jerks from williamsburg who want to see the real deal scream at their bookies on the phone while serving you spagett should cruise.
