excellent sales ? terrible service

I was looking for any not too far from home gym for some muscle exercises plus weight loss purposes, so I decided to check ?Bally Total Fitness? at Sheepshead bay.
The place was really overcrowd but I have been promised that ?it is so only on Mondays, sir, and you can cancel your membership within 3 days with full refund, sir?. Sounds OK? Don?t be so optimistic.
On the next day I have found place even more overcrowd then day before. Huge lines everywhere!
At the second I entered and saw the picture I understood ? I don?t want to be here, so I went to the representative and said that I want cancel my membership.
Guess what? ?I am terrible sorry, sir, but you can not cancel it here, sir, please use this phone # for further instructions, sir?. OK I call that number: ??Enter the # of your membership card?? entered, ??the number you entered is not valid?? after 3rd try I asked for assistance of representative. He called using office phone to head office. Lol, there was line too, so he gave me phone and asked me to wait for the answer. So I was sitting with phone at the ear and waiting for answer like 15 min when some fury jumped on me, pulled phone of my hand and hanged it off. ?How dare you use our office phone!!!...?

?Stand up and sit there! ... It is like if I was coming to your home and use your phone telephone!!! ... I ask you to leave!!!...? She appears to be general manager of the branch, name Angelika and she refused to provide her last name (like it matters) neither she was listen to my explanations that phone call was made by their own representative and he did ask me to take phone and wait for answer. So I just left the place.
Bottom line: excellent sales ? terrible service, ?Be our customer or die!? policy. Well after spending 40 minutes on the next day I have finally cancelled my membership, so it?s possible but you will need try really hard to do that. Think more then twice before becoming ?Bally?? member.
