Brooklyn >Rapid Realty NYC
“While the unit was nice, it didn't set our world on fire (the location was slightly questionable).”
“say "great with Landlords" because I am one - however, I was on the other end about a year ago, when I rented a commercial space from Rapid (they've got a good variety of commercial spaces, FYI).”
“The man who showed me the apartments was unbelievably nice, and SO patient, and we eventually found a really, really great place.”
“the people who took care of the paperwork were super nice too (one guy and one girl), but unfortunately i'm at a loss for their names.”
“We were very picky (ok, we were probably a pretty big pain in the butt - but we hate moving, and want to be in a place for as long as possible, so we don't have to move every year because we settled on an apartment we didn't really like), and looked at (n”
Please one word of advise! if you happen to be on the sidewalk in front of their office, make sure to cross the street. Sly and deceitful seem their mantra to conduct business. They should enter the Broker's Hall of Shame really. In their website they claim that they are famous for low fee or no fee, but they will do all they can to swindle you. Imagine their application has this: "I understand that the Brokers only obligation is to find me an apartment and the money given to Broker today shows that Broker has performed his duties and has earned his fee and the apartment is being taken off the market in our office however the landlord may reserve the right to show or rent the apartment on their own" For Heaven sake how twisted is that? whereas legally you pay a broker only when the lease is signed! Horrible experience and shady characters...Definitely a negative star.
Kiss your security deposit good-bye!!!Shown APT. 3F 709 Putnam Ave. by Renee at Rapid Realty Lafayette Street office. No Hot water but was told that would be turned on. Later found out no oil in boiler, hence no hot water. Several re-occurrences through fall and winter.NO HEAT or HOT WATER from 2/22/12-2/28/12. Landlord said it was tenants responsibility to inform her when oil was low or out. I don't know where the boiler is much less how to measure the oil! That's what I pay rent for. Landlord refused to prorate for days without heat and hot water and tacked on a late fee for good measure. Lease ended on 5/15/2012, all rent fully paid, apartment in mint, move in condition (documented by Keenan at Rapid) and no response on when, or if, the $1000 security will be returned. DONOTRENT
KEEP YOUR WORD!!! If you say that your going to give deposit to landlord in good faith, do it! Don't pocket the money....Apartment hunting process went well until that point and I don't care for shady characters that say one thing and do another. Almost cost us our apartment. I really hope they don't continue these practices because the next person may not be as nice as we were....
worst.experience.ever.. I wish i could hit "no stars". First off the lease was negotiated twice, they wanted six months rent because the renters were students (even though we co-signed up the wazoo as parents) then we said no because it was not legal (one parent is an attorney). So Carmela Palmer came back and said 3 months. We said that is not legal, we will give first and last and a security deposit. It came done to that fact that we did not trust her. Then she called my daughter a retard, when I asked about this she said she never said such a thing, BUT then told me my daughter is "bi polar". I asked for our $1700. back and I told her I was going to contact the head office, she said "Good luck to that" and hung up on me. SKETCHY. MEAN. CONDESCENDING. and really is it that great for a company like Rapid Realty to have someone that hangs up on people, calls people names and talks to them like they are idiots that just crawled out of the primordial ooze? I think not.
There are some good agents.
In my apartment search, I encountered 4 Rapid NYC agents. Agent # 1: never had anything i my price range. Agent #2: he was ok. followed up a few weeks later to see if I was still looking. Agent # 3: The worst! She scheduled to show me 2 apartments. The 1st apartment she couldnt get into the apartment. After calling to see why the keys werent working, come to find out the apartment was already rented. Then to the next apartment. It was the worst thing I had ever seen. The hall way was dirty, worn down, and unsafe. Then we see the actual apartment. It was suppose to be a 2 bedroom. The rooms were the size of a walk in closet. There was a 1 foot gap between the stove and sink. If I was pregant I would not be able to wask dishes b/c I would not fit into the space. The third apartment was better but you can tell the owner did quick fix job just to try to rent the space. Every room you walked in made noise.
Agent #4: Juan Roman, he was great! I didn't know he was from Rapid when I first contacted him which is a good thing b/c I probably would not have bothered. He was flexible on the times and days he showed the apartment. He worked really hard to find me an apartment. He knew the neighborhood I was interested in well. He showed me many apartments. I would say between 10-15 apartments. Many differnt set ups, sizes, all within the price range. He did try to find what I really wanted. He always showed a few apartments any we met. He took into consideration what I liked and didnt like from each place I saw. I did ended up seeing a place but I didnt like the price. I put in an offer but the owner rejeted it. In the end I found a place on my own. It was a pleasure working with Juan. He does his job as an agent and tries to find you the place you are looking for.
NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL USE THEM AGAIN.
We would give them NO STAR if its possible. We have asked them to rent the place for us. We told them all the details. But they changed the content of the contract, without notifying us. Of course, we have to take some responsibly for not reading the contract. We then call the broker, he said "It is what it is on the contract. We got set up.
NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL USE THEM AGAIN.
Unacceptible. I don't understand why realtors do this! Why lie? Do they ever get anything out of this? I contacted Sarah Rosenberg and scheduled a viewing. Just as I arrived at the location she said it was already rented and suggested I see another apartment. Really? Does she think I'm an idiot? Who schedules an appointment when they are so close to signing? I confirmed just 50 minutes before I went down there and she didn't mention any of this. I don't believe she is that incompetent, I just don't believe that apartment ever existed.
The absolute worst! Stay away people.. I'm still shocked at the shady business tactics of Rapid Realty. I hope to never come across this type of business in my life. The stress of searching for an apartment is enough without having to be mislead, lied to and in the end robbed off $100 for a so called 'deposit'. I will warn everyone I know of this company. Their lack of business ethics is rather disgusting.
Unprofessional and SHADY!.
I am dumbfounded by how unprofessional these kids are. I've met with FOUR of them in less then a week and they all FAIL.
The first girl we worked with, Kia, was an HOUR AND A HALF LATE to our appointment at the apartment. The place was disgusting, and she was unprepared to show us anything else. She offered us one other apartment, but she didn't have the keys: they were in Williamsburg, we were in Sunset Park, and the apartment was in Prospect Heights, so that was a waste of a day. When we did see the second apartment the next day, she had double booked us with another girl, and that place sucked too. Done.
Next, I'm home from work at 5 pm and get a call from Christian about an amazing apartment I HAVE to see that night because it will be gone by tomorrow. It sounds good on paper, but can't make it to that neighborhood in time and I felt sick anyway. Meanwhile, Christian calls my boyfriend, not realizing we are two parts of the same couple moving in together, telling him that he needs to move on this same apartment because he has another client (me!) who is about to visit the apartment at 7pm tonight. Overly aggressive and manipulative. Next.
Victor has an "exclusive" that hasn't been listed yet! A 2 bed in South Park Slope for $1400, but he can talk it down to $1300! Perfect, right? The place was a dump with the kitchen literally in a closet, and then the bathroom off the kitchen. NOT a two bedroom, just a second nondescript hallway/closet thing. There were workmen there when we visited and Victor promised us the kitchen was being redone. But if that were true, why would you bother showing us any apartment in this condition!? Can't you wait? Or if anything, try to romance us about the renovations.
None of these people know ANYTHING about SELLING. They are all dressed in hoodies and make no effort to sell me on a place. They are basically there to open the apartment for you (that is in the rare case they actually have the key) and then surf their Metro PCS phones. Again, I'm shocked at just how unprofessional these people are, especially since they make money from commission.
Finally, we met Sean. I contacted him about a specific apartment I saw an ad for, but also gave him neighborhoods and a price range we were interested in because he asked. We met at the office, and the four apartments he had planned to show us were way out of our price range and he was clueless about the one I had contacted him about initially. That apartment turned out to be in a completely different neighborhood than it was advertised. When he realized our price range, he basically fumbled on the computer for 30 minutes in the same database we had access to online. Meanwhile, he gave me some "legal" document I was to look over, which appeared to be some agreement between the landlords and Rapid, so I had no clue why he was giving this paper to me and I signed nothing. Then he asked if I would give him a "refundable" deposit to "hold an apartment" - or remove the listing or something - if we liked it while we were still looking. SHADE!
It's frustrating and disheartening that Rapid seems have a monopoly on sites like naked apartments and zillow, and a bunch of the "realtors" don't make it clear on those sites that they are with Rapid. I kind of don't know were else to go, but I don't want anything to do with them.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!. First I paid $500 deposit for apartment they found for me. Then it took 10 days to find out that apartment has been given to some body else! Than I been waiting over 1 month to have my deposit back ($400 minus $100 application & credit check fees). And finally the check they gave me was RETURNED plus I have to pay $10 returned check fee!!!!!! So "fan" is not over yet!!!! What else has to be said to prevent you doing business with these people!!!! HORRIBLE experience! HORRIBLE service! HORRIBLE BUSINESS!
