great movers, were incredibly careful with my furniture (even appreciated it)
and cared about doing things right..they also worked incredibly fast.
when it was all told I had moved from a 5 flight walk up into my
new building in 3 hours..
Van Gogh movers were one of those great nice surprises I have had in 20 years in NY,
I expected the worst and got great affordable service. I have used them again
and recommended them to friends..
I don't usually write to many of these reviews, but these guys deserve it
and there is a reason they have stayed in biz for so long.
- Pros: fast, efficient, focused, caring, smart
- Cons: none
Don't Gogh!

Van Gogh was a nightmare. First they gave us an estimate but "accidentally" failed to leave us a copy of it. Van Gogh had our cell phone number, as well as our old & new home phone numbers.
We asked for the same size truck that we had used on our previous move -- which was large enough for a single trip -- but they sent a smaller truck which meant charging for two trips.
Once the truck was loaded, we gave the moving men our cell number, since obviously our land line phone was in the truck. They drove the truck and we drove our car separately.
Once we arrived at our new home in NJ, there was no one there. Hours later, the truck still hadn't arrived. It was getting dark. We called the office and it had closed. We checked the cell phone and there was no message. I started to panic, thinking that something terrible had happened to everything we owned. We phoned the office again and again. No one answered. Finally, one of the moving men called us on our cell, assuming we knew what had happened, to apologize for having to continue the next day, but that they were ordered by the Owner to return the truck to Brooklyn. The kid had been told that the Owner had called us earlier about it. The next morning I called the Owner. He said the truck had been delayed at a checkpoint at the tunnel so it became too late and they had to charge for a second day--plus for a third trip because of the too-small truck. Neither issue was our fault! I asked why no one called us to tell us what happened except the kid. He said he, the Owner, had called us and left a message at our new phone number's voice mail. He was shouting. I remained calm. I said, obviously our telephone was in the truck and therefore unavailable, so why didn't he call our cell? We ended up having to pay $800 more for the second day, and he wouldn't refund the cost of the hotel we needed to sleep in when we had no bed the night before. We refused to pay for a third trip, so we rented a van to finish ourselves.
- Pros: The kids doing the moving are honest and hard working.
- Cons: The Owner. (Nuff Said.)
Best Movers in the World

Two months ago I choose them because of the great recommendation from a friend of mine.. SInce I hadn't experienced moving in over 29 years, I didn't know what to expect. From the moment I called their office to the end it was flawless! I was extremely impressed by them. After hearing so many horrow stories about movers, I was surprised they arrived on time and finished earlier than was quoted. The guys were prompt, professional, courteous. There was good communication every step of the move. These people know their business. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Van Gogh Movers to all my friends and family.
- Pros: Knew exactly where they were going
- Cons: None
