here is the true deal about le petit. Pros-The atmosphere is amazing.... end of story. Tommy , the owner has poured his heart and soul into this place and it shows. The fountains and landscaping make it worth going to if for no other reason at all. It is very beautiful and a great spot to go on a date or just to read the newspaper and have a coffee. The prices are decent as well and I think you get what you pay for. The food is pretty good. It?s not great or the best but its pretty good. Now for the cons- the service is not good at all. I am going to try to offer constructive criticism rather than just be rude but it is true. The service is actually bad more often than it is decent or good. There are 2 issues here. First is the wait staff. They are young and inexperienced. Tommy means well but to be quite honest he should hire older more "professional" (for lack of a better word) wait staff. The 2nd issue is that the kitchen is too small for the amount of business that they get on a regular basis. This is not really an opinion, but rather a fact. As for people saying that the owner was rude, to be honest I am not surprised, although he should know better. Acknowledging your faults and handling them the right way would stop people from reviewing it as a place that they wouldn?t return to. Rather then get defensive or nasty, they should apologize and try to make it better. Overall it is surely worth going to for the food and the atmosphere and if you have a bad experience, give it another try or two. I have been there a million times and they have their good days and bad. Despite issues with service or speed I like the place...enough that I keep going back.

Great food, but terrible service. My husband and I went for brunch on Sunday for our second visit to Le Petit Cafe, and were again disappointed with the lack of service. We waited for 15-20 minutes and were never acknowledged -- not even by the owner! We finally had to seat ourselves when a table opened up. Our waiter did his best to take care of us, but the wait staff is spread so thin. Our coffee was never filled and my husband's pancakes were served without butter or syrup.

I put much of the blame on the ownership. It seems that much of the waitstaff is making an effort, but ownership is either too disorganized or too cheap to add servers.

The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great, but the service is bad enough for me to go elsewhere for brunch. We won't be back until they improve service.

Things are looking up!. My first 2 visits to Le Petit were disappointing (hence my last review). I recently went back to see if things had changed - mostly because I was craving one of their fabulous paninis. It seems as though someone at Le Petit has been paying attention to the reviews! Service has really picked up. We were acknowledged when we walked in, received attentive and polite service, didn't wait too long for our food, and were given eye contact and a "thank you" by everyone (from the waitress, to the cooks, to the cashier) on our way out. I've been back 3 times since - for both bruch and dinner. Things at Le Petit are really looking up!

Great atmosphere, good food, HORRIBLE SERVICE. This is an adorable place--the atmosphere is really wonderful. BUT, the service is really, really bad. I went for brunch with a friend, and it took a half an hour before anyone took our order (after waiting fifteen minutes to be seated). Then, it took an HOUR for our food to come. If you have all the time in the world, and aren't very hungry or thirsty, it might be fun. But make sure you're not in a rush, because they will keep you waiting, probably without even water. ...oh, and when our food came, they got the order wrong--I had ordered eggs with mushrooms, bacon and brie, and there were no mushrooms in my food. ...but I'm a pushover for atmosphere, and the space itself is beautiful.

Le Petit Cafe in Carroll Gardens is a must!. Excellent excellent excellent!!!! The best place to eat, relax, and feel welcomed! The panini's are honestly the best I have ever had. The weekend Chef has a great dinner menu. The soups are perfection, the cornflake chicken is a must, and the pasta specials are very creative. The staff is very friendly and I recommend this place to all for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Fantastic brunch place. This place is magical. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the outdoor space in the back is fabulously decorated, cozy and friendly. One of the best brunch places I've been to. Cute and quaint. Really good food, too, even when not there for brunch.
