In Short – Many diners seem to prefer breakfast, often stretching well past the bounds of lunch, at this quaint Carroll Gardens cafe. Choices are standard and plentiful: omelettes and egg dishes, pancakes, bagels, muffins, croissants, mini-doughnuts, cookies, etc. Salads, 18 panini options and burgers from the grill round out the menu. The interior is small and clean, with limited seating. The outdoor garden more than doubles the dining space and is tented in winter.

Great Food, Crappy Service

by UnkChunga

Well, I usually only eat breakfast type food at this place, so my girlfriend and I usually end up with a bill of only 10 bucks or so...Still, we make sure to tip at least 4 clams every time.(We tip at least 2 bones per person until the 20% portion of the bill gets higher.) Yet, every time we come back, the wait staff treats us like we stiffed them. They not personable at all and it took them 15-20 mins just to get water out to us.(And it was a hot day) The servers treat you like they'd rather you not be there. They are complete amatures. During my meal, they never came to check up on us and I went without water the whole time. Sh*tty service and they don't know what they're doing. Food on the other hand is excellent. Very creative and tasty. That's that. This place would be my favorite restaurant in Carroll Gardens if it wasn't for the service....

  • Pros: Great Food, Cool atmosphere, Cheap Price
  • Cons: Crappy a$$ service

Relaxing spot to while away a Sunday

by graciousbee

I've stopped by Le Petit Cafe a few times to grab a quick coffee to go and kept catching glimpses of their glass roofed garden in the back. I finally had dinner there last week and got to soak up the atmosphere. Le Petit Cafe is all about the cheerful, relaxing atmosphere. The colors are warm and golden so it evokes a sunny day even if it's dreary outside. The music is casual and mixes in with the sounds of the cascading water in the back. Dinner was good and fresh- I had the red snapper which came with a mango salad which was tasty and light. Having stopped by quickly in the daytime, it was nice to have dinner and get a better feel for the surroundings. I'd like to come back on a lazy Sunday to sip coffee underneath the atrium in the garden.

  • Pros: Cheerful atmosphere, "hidden" back garden

The Details on Le Petite Cafe

What to Drink:

Get your vitamins with the fresh-fruit smoothies, but for a refreshing, less vitamin-infused drink, try the milk-based green tea smoothie.

When to Go:

The takeout crowd bustles with the early-morning rush to work, and on the weekends, brunch can overwhelm the small place. If you're looking for peace, try late morning to midday weekdays, or after 3pm on weekends.
