This is a neighborhood staple for old world Italian-American comfort food. Oddly enough, this restaurant is what prompted me to "discover" Carroll Gardens and move there. My father worked for Con Edison, and this was one of his regular lunch spots. I went there for a family dinner, fell in love with the neighborhood, and the rest is history.

The food is classic Italian-American comfort food, the portions are tremendous, and the prices can't be beat. The dishes are not exactly innovative, but they are great for what they are. The staff is extremely friendly, including the owner (Vinny), who takes the time to get to know the regulars. Many of the patrons are long-time Carroll Gardens residents, which is a refreshing change. The atmosphere is basic, so don't expect an evening on the town, but the fried shrimp and calamari make up for it. :-)

BIG PORTIONS, small prices. for $10- 12 you can get great food, with enough for lunch the next day. great family owned italian!

Italian on Smith. This down-home restaurant serves the kind of great classic Italian food that you are looking for. This is the place to go to have a delicious meal for a great price. There are so many selections that you need to bring a friend to split two meals.

Home Again. Vinnie's has the most amazing selection of Italian "comfort food" I have ever seen. Is it good?

Well lets put it this way, When they closed down for vacation, the neighborhood goes into withdrawel.

I know people who order extra for the freezer just to hold them over. I think that is pretty good.

Prices are excellent, with an average of about 10.00

Specials are a little more.
