Brooklyn >Van Zachary Salon
Bad Karma!. Have been using this salon for 10 years, and it's time to go. The owner is not there often anymore, and the salon now seems to be run by a bunch of very unsophisticated and unprofessional women. The female stylists main objectives seem to be gossiping while they're cutting your hair. It's kind of nerve wracking when a stylist is cutting your hair and keeps turning away to continue a conversation with another stylist. My old stylist, Karen (who was very laid back but very professional) left, and the next stylist I used (Ali) once left because I was 10 minutes late, although I called beforehand, and she'd agreed to wait for me. During another appointment I had with her, while she was cutting my hair, the woman who'd washed my hair left to go home. As soon as the door shut behind her, Ali turned to the receptionist and asked, "What happened? She got laid last night? " (very classy) . I know Ali seems to be very popular at this salon, but she's often pissed off about something, and has an unjustified superiority complex. She seems to think she's more important than the client is. An unprofessional, immature attitude is exhibited by quite a few of the stylists, as well as by the woman who washes your hair. The hours listed aren't correct; I'm pretty sure mostly everyone there is out the door by 7pm. I might have to go back to this place one more time, but am intent upon finding a new salon.
Excellent for children. The staff was accomodating and friendly. I brought my two daughters 4 and 9 there. They can't wait to go back for haircuts. Christen cut their hair and was gentle, patient and funny.
