Adelmans: Defention best kosher deli in the history of a true deli lovers taste buds

by Adhambroo at Citysearch

Adelmans is the best brooklyn deli ever. First of all the atmosphere and decor is apalling. When you walk through the doors you see baseball cards lining the walls and you are always greeted with a smile. If you are taking out the service is most helpful. If you are eating in , the old style booths you can sit in are cozy and welcoming. If you are a true all american baseball lover you just feel at home over there. The waiters are more etiquite and they treat you like a king. Then There is the food. You have a wide selection to choose from. From salads to soups to sandwiches. Its an unbeliavible selection. Just to tell you the salads are mouth watering. The matzo ball soup is just like grandma used to make and the soup is absoultly scrumptious. Now the sandwiches. What is a deli with out the pastrami, corned beef, brisket and all that. Other delis just slice it and throw out onto some bread. Adelmans slices thier meats with love and care and serve it to you on the finest breads. They do it the old-fashioned way. Then they serve it to your liking. If you are in the mood for some hot dogs or home made kinishes Adelmans is the place to go. Thinking about going any where else for deli besides Adelmans fughediboaudit. Adelmans is THE place to go for deli.

  • Pros: Great SErvice, EXcellent food, cozy atmosphere
  • Cons: you have to leave

Food and service straight out of a 40's movie.

by jimsheridan at Citysearch

This ex Manhattanite never ventured into Brooklyn while he lived there. Now, after years in Philly, my best friend ( a native Brooklynite), apalled at my ignorance, made a beeline (with me in tow) straight to Adelmans! This is exactly the New York experience I pined away for in Manhattan for years!

Food: The corned beef and pastrami are the best I've ever had in my life, prepared in the traditional manner. It is tender, flavorful and fresh. The menu is extensive and this is a real problem. Making a decision can become an existential nightmare, especially when you only get to Brooklyn occasionally. I mean, how do you pass up a turkey dinner special with all the trimmings when what you're really craving are two kosher dogs, a dish of fries (the best on the eastern seaboard!), and a cream soda? It's kind of embarrassing, especially with things like stuffed breast of veal, potato kugel, noodle pudding, sweet potato fries and don't get me started on the knishes! In fact, writing this review is reminding me of all the things I haven't tried yet. Luckily, I'm going there tomorrow!

Dessert? Most of us will have to wrap it up and take it home. But if you've shown a little restraint ( a Herculean feat here), you'll be amply rewarded. Seven layer cake, checkerboard cake, apple strudel, melt in your mouth cookies. Any of these with a nice cup of tea make a nice accompaniment to after dinner conversation.

Ambience? Sometimes quiet, sometimes raucous but always uninhibited, fun, and friendly.

Staff: Outside of the movies, I've never seen service this professional or with so much character.

Adelmans is a delicious joy you won't soon forget.

  • Pros: Delicious food and ambience that'll cure the blues!
  • Cons: Tough to make a decision! You'll see what I mean when you go!

This is the best of Jewish brooklyn deli's. You have not had true New York Deli until you have had this. I have been coming to Brookyln since I was a baby and my first stop has Always been Adelmans. They treat you like family, the food is fantastic and take out can even last coast to coast. I highly recomend going out of your way for this.

  • Pros: Excellent quality food, service. and take out, GOOD PEOPLE
  • Cons: You are sad to leave
