Good Morning America "Gas Prices Raised Mid Pump"
…
I've owed this guy a review for the
longest time. Found hime when i google "best mechanics in brooklyn" Easily the best mechanic in Brooklyn and he never even touched my car. Here's what I mean, brought my car there to ask him a few questions, he offered to put it on the lift for free and tell me what needed to be replaced that he could see. This guy ended up saving me a ton of money and headaches as all the problems I thought were wrong with the car wasn't even the worst of what was wrong. And he did all of that for FREE, left his mechanic a pretty decent tip for looking at the car and telling me everything that he saw. Mitchell didn't BS me like other mechanics have, didn't offer to "fix" anything that didn't need fixing. Such an honest and personable guy i suggest everyone take their car here for work. He's the epitome of customer service! Came in for a problem I thought was major and he told me the worst tht could happen which honestly was just a CEL, instead of having me to fork over 1k+ in repairs he advised that itd be cheaper just to live with the light. How many mechanics tell you the honest truth while you dangle money in their face? Such an honest individual.
P.S. Hey Mitch, this is the guy with the silver/gray maxima. thanks for all the advice!
While researching auto repair shops
about a year and a half ago, I came across Mitchell's Auto Repair through a handful of very positive reviews. I have a '90 Camry that my father gave to me, and it needed some maintenance.
Since that time, I have never had a problem with the car--
I only go to Mitchell's for routine maintenance, inspection, etc. The friendly auto team is quick and diligent.
Mr. Mitchell is very personable and REAL. His vast knowledge of cars and their mechanisms is unprecedented. He takes the time to show and explain everything you need to know about any issue regarding your vehicle.
If you are searching for an auto repair establishment that takes great care of your engine, without flushing out your wallet, then Mitchell's Auto is the way to go!
Great Experience, thanks Mitchell!!!. I visited Mitchell's before a long road trip to have my car checked out. I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Mitchell and his crew did great work and were honest, quick and friendly. I'm shocked that my first review in years is for an Auto Repair shop!
good, honest, really!.
I've had my car service at Mitchell's Auto for many years and while I know that you can and may be skeptical, but in this case you'd be incorrect.
While I know that it's hard to find a trusted mechanic, he's one.
Real Deal.
We all hate going to a auto repair shop right? Do thoughts of aged juvenile delinquents purposefully F@#king around with your precious baby race through your mind? Do you have nightmares thinking you are getting rimmed out of hundreds of dollars for a simple automotive procedure? Well STOP WORRYING! There are plenty of great reviews for this man and his shop and for good reason.
When I called saying I thought my car needed a tune up he ask the year and make of it. Once I gave it to him he said "newer cars do not need tune ups, maybe an oil change, new filters and wiper blades". He sounded like a nice guy so I made an appointment.
When I got there he was very personable and really looked at my car. He noticed and showed me that my serpentine belt was about to snap. He also asked when was my last oil change. Oil change? Never. Mitchell took a look "18,000 miles and no oil change you are a very lucky guy". The oil was thick. He informed me of the differences in the types of oils :synthetic and natural and recommended synthetic would be best for me as it would help remove the sludge.
After everything was done, in about an hour or so he told me how to take better care of my car and placed a sticker in the car to remind me of my next oil change. Mitchell also recommended a guy across the street to paint over three separate key marks on my car "where do you live, in a war zone?" he asked, "Manhattan" I said. " Gee you must be a real A-hole" he said laughing. Maybe, but at least I know a nice guy when I see one.
Mitchell is the best.
Mitchell's Auto Repair, Brooklyn, NY
REVIEW
Diogenes -- look no further. We found an honest, intelligent, communicative and experienced auto repair person in Mitchell Zelner of Mitchell's Auto Repair in Brooklyn.
After reading an article about his work in the NY Times we thought it would be worth the trip from Manhattan. Our old Suburu had engine problems that no other mechanic could diagnose properly; we also had a slipping transmission. The attention Mitchell gave to examining the car was exceptional. He did it with us, putting it up on the lift, showing us what he was checking, and the problems he had found. Then he took the car for a test drive with us. He gave us a detailed estimate for the work required on the engine, and then suggested we have the transmission checked out at Globe Transmission across the street first. Because, if the transmission were too expensive, we might not want to invest further in the car. This was indeed the case. So we did not have any work done and Mitchell did not charge us anything. We found Mitchell to be an honest and caring person who treated us as a friend. We recommend him wholeheartedly.

Excellent. There are plenty of shops near where I live but none my neighbors would recommend. I've never used citysearch for anything mechanical because i prefer word of mouth but I had neglected to get a tune up on my 2001 ford explorer sport for some time and was planning a trip to Maine, so I took a chance on what the reviewers were saying. I don't drive much but when I did I noticed the car was using quite a bit of gas, didn't have the power I remembered and if i hit a pothole or bump the car would lose stability, jerking the steering. Not good for a semi-long drive. I made an appt with Mitchell and brought the car in. He was straight forward, honest and took care of the stability problem, front left ball joint. All the parts were kept so I could see them, He didn't try and sell me ANYTHING I didn't need, the price was very reasonable, and most importantly-the car ran fantastic! He earns his rating. Excellent job.
It is worth the trip from anywhere in Brooklyn.. Mitchell is no joke the nicest / most honest car mechanic on the face of the earth. This is the first review I ever wrote for anything. I brought my car into Mitchell because of the postings I read here and my experience was better than what I expected. It is worth the trip from anywhere in Brooklyn. I had an issue where my car was over - heating and someone else on Coney Island Ave. told me that it was going to be an expensive job, Mitchell had it fixed and ready to go for something like 50 bucks (may have been a little more, can't remember). Turned out it was the thermometer and not the more expensive job. He explains every detail of what he does and walks you through the whole process so you're not feeling like you were schemed by a crook. Go see him and write him a nice review after you do!
The best brooklyn repair shop!!! A++++. If you are looking for honest and expert service, then you dont have to look any further than Mitchell. I spent a month at 3 different shops who could not figure out the problem with my jeep. Each of them recommending over $1,000 in repairs for what wasnt even the correct solution. One day in Mitchell's shop and for less than half of what any of those shops wanted, he fixed my car perfectly. If you need a mechanic that you can trust 1000% to fix your car and to treat you honestly, then this is the shop for you. There is a reason he comes up at the top of the list when you google best brooklyn auto repair shops. he lived up to his reputation!
EXcellent service!!!!. My car was towed by AAA in Brooklyn and taken to a shady car mechanic shop on Atlantic Ave, Cobble Hill Mechanic. I was told that the alternator and battery need to be replaced, and would cost about $550. I searched for mechanic shops in Brooklyn, and called around for prices. Seemed like I should pay about $275 for the alternator and labor, and an extra $100 for the battery. I happened to call Mitchell's, and he was so nice to me on the phone -- spoke to me for 20-25 mins, explaining how it seemed less likely that the alternator was broken (no red light came on on my dash board, wasnt while I was driving etc. etc). Told me that if I didnt want to stay with that mechanic, I could ask them to "not touch the car" (and break things on purpose) and to have it towed. He didnt even care if I wasnt coming to him. I had it towed, I took it to him and the alternator WAS OK. Battery needed changing, and I paid $120 instead of $550. I love Mitchell's mechanic shop. NEVER go to Cobble Hill with AAA.
