In Ditmas Park, a shots-and-beer old-man dive gets freshened up for the 21st century--while drink prices remain rooted in 1982.. This circa-1969 Brooklyn lounge has been remodeled, with a fresh coat of paint and spiffed-up bathrooms updating the dive without sacrificing its time-weathered charm. Around the long, TV-outfitted bar, paint-spattered day laborers, cops and grizzled grandpas gather to gossip and catch the nightly news or the game, and drink Bud served in frozen pint glasses or domestic longnecks like Miller Lite. In the rear, dartboards draw fierce competitors, while the high-backed wooden booths attract the occasional twenty-something.

Hits: Come here with a $20 bill, and you can get totally blotto and play darts until the wee hours. Even better, you'll likely head home with a fistful of change.

Misses: Looking for ambiance? Look elsewhere. And while some customers can be gregarious, others embrace the crotchety-old-man stereotype all too well.

773 Lounge The Oldest New Game In Town. The 773 is an updated Old New Irish pub. The new decor is simple yet crisp with a clientele of locals, the old timers and hipsters. You can try 50 beers and if your indecisive you can spin the shot wheel. Bartenders are quick and easy going.

I frequent the 773 and find everyone easy going and willing to share a story or two if you like. The new owners bring a fun, positive energy that makes anyone feel at ease. The price is still great with generous pours. They will start serving food on Friday Dec. 5th.
