BEWARE!! THE TAILORING BUSINESS AT "AFRIKART" IS NO GOOD....
I brought my clothing material to Afrikart to sew an outfit 4 weeks in advance from the date that I needed it.....The owner of this run-down store took my measurements and promised that my out fit will be ready in 2 weeks and he requested a deposit....which I paid. I called afrikart a day in advance to find out if my cloth was ready and I was told to come in the next day to pick it up. This is where it gets interesting.....upon my arrival, the owner was no where to be found.....I waited 4 freaking hours for the owner and he was no show. The associates at his store could not help because they were renting space from the owner and were not authorized to handle customers with tailoring needs.
After waiting 4 hours, i was beyond frustrated....to cut a long story short........I found out that the material I brought in to sew 4 weeks ago was never be touched or cut or sewn. I REPEAT....I brought in my material 4 weeks in advance and paid a deposit in advance, only to find out that material was never touched, cut or sew and this guy had me waiting for 4 hours for no reason.
After waiting for soo long, the owner finally called the store and when I got on the phone with him....I told him how frustrated I was and the very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE he exuded and he response was "You can take your F-ing material and go and come back tomorrow for your deposit...i sew for Americans all the time and they don't hassle me " and he offered no apologies. I asked him several times during our phone conversation if this is how he treats his customers......once reality set into his head he offered for me to come the next day and he would have my outfit made. But at this stage, I could not TRUST him at all.
I collected my un-sewn clothing materials and deposit and went to another tailor.
NOTE, This is not the first time something like this has happened before. I randomly found out from a friend who experienced the same problem with "AFRIKART"....she dropped her material a month in advance and on the day she was suppose to pick up her outfit...it had not been sewn. The owner started working on it while she was there and made her wait 3-4 hours.
KEY LESSONS:
1. The Management at AFRIKART has no sense of what CUSTOMER SERVICE is about. Bottom line, CUSTOMER SERVICE is none existence there. They will take your money $$$ and make promises that they cannot fulfill.
2. AFRIKART is untrustworthy and I would never go there again.
3. AFRIKART needs to learn that "TRUST" is the golden rule for any successful business on this planet. Once customers cannot trust you or your business...it only goes downhill from there.
4. AFRIKART needs to understand the power of "WORD OF MOUTH". The bad experience I encountered does not only remain with me....but whoever, I meet would also hear about it.
I'm mad that lowest rating on citysearch is one star because AFRIKART does not deserve any star at all for its POOR, DEPLORABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
