“Great food, always fresh, great prices, and a no-frills atmosphere very conducive to a hearty meal.”
“Good spot for mexican food, not the best spot to stay and eat.”
“great menu, they do food fresh and fast.”
“To add insult to injury, the service was terrible.”
“This is a small restaurant, but the food is pretty good and not very pricey.”
Terrible. This is not a place I plan to go back to. When they brought the food out, it was only warm. Their chile relleno was more like a bland, chewy omelet stacked on top of a poblano with a dollop of salsa over it. The mozzarella (what? Mozzarella in a chile relleno??) was tough and rubbery because it was not served hot. The steak in their enchiladas was awful. It tasted like fish. Perhaps the meat was a few too many days old-- I had to cut my night short because of stomach pains, and I?m writing this review between trips to the bathroom. To add insult to injury, the service was terrible. We had to ask to have our orders taken, and then we had to ask twice for our drinks. I ate at Rachel?s a few weeks ago (the restaurant that owns this one, not too far away), and while the service was no better there, the food was a lot better and it certainly didn?t get me this sick.
Ordered delivery and will not be again.... Half our chips were stale, guacamole was not fresh and had a soupy consistency, the Poblano Chicken Mole burrito did not taste like mole at all and the quality of the chicken was substandard. The Tacos D-F were authentic but lacking in flavor. And although they say they have speedy delivery it took over an hour to get our food and we only live two blocks away...
User review by jrockdc. La Taqueria has some of the best burritos I've ever had, and believe me I'm an expert. While I usually stick with the basic orginal burrito, there is large selection of different burritos. I recommend you pick up a burrito if you're chilling in Prospect Park on a nice day.
vegan friendly bargain. I work in the neighborhood and almost everyday at least one person orders from LA Taqueria. Whoever said this was bland obviously hasn't tried a burrito with spinach and roasted peppers. The salsas are great, especially the mild one which has undertones of smoke and garlic. Plus, for about $5-7, I always go home with leftovers. They are also always consistent with special requests such as no dairy in burritos.
Ho Hum. I love the fresh ingredients, but why so bland? I've tasted many of the items on the menu, and all have been poorly seasoned. This is not was southern Cali Mexican is all about, there the food is always well seasoned (not necessarily hot, but always flavorful.) Chile Rellenos here are awful, they taste like a burnt pancake. But nothing beats the value of the Original California burrito, just use lots of extra salsa. And what's up with the ever-changing delivery policy?! 50% of the time the claim that they don't deliver to my address, but the other times they deliver no problem.
I love it here. Great food, always fresh, great prices, and a no-frills atmosphere very conducive to a hearty meal. (PS they are always cranking great tunes.)
roasted corn in my belly. their burritos are for sure the best in pk. slope if not nyc and the tacos jaliscos are a favorite of mine. in fact, i think that their chickens are better than los pollitos!
