“The shrimp & chicken dumplings were not good, it actually tasted like beef!”
“At Lemon Grass the staff was friendly, however, the food was not great to me.”
The worst.. I went here once when I first moved to the 'hood. I ordered the pad thai, which I had previously thought to be safe choice and pretty hard to mess up. I was wrong -- it was terrible. Just terrible. My GF got another noodle dish, which was also really gross. I really am baffled that this place has stayed in business. It's pretty cheap, service is pleasant, and the portions are huge... but it is also yucky, inedible food. I'd rather not eat.
Just okay - I have had better Thai food. This restaurant was okay to me but a few of my friends love it and swear by it. I prefer SEA in Williamsburg better - food taste better to me and SEA is slightly cheaper. At Lemon Grass the staff was friendly, however, the food was not great to me. The shrimp & chicken dumplings were not good, it actually tasted like beef! The main course was just okay. The water I received looked dirty, so I had canned soda instead, as they did not have any bottled water. My 1st set of chop sticks were falling apart, so I asked for another set and the same thing, so I finally decided to use the fork they provided. You may have to just judge for yourself, that was my first time there, I may give it a second try but I was not impressed.
Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale. This branch of the citywide chain is heavy on the tamarind, lime, coconut and curry, serving both innovative and traditional dishes.
A bad experience.
This review is for their 2nd location (156 Court Street) Prior to my last visit, I recommended this restaurant to many However, my last visit was BAD. It started off with 4 different people serving me. Afterwards, when I needed a drink refill I not only had to call across the room to the group of servers chit chatting but I also waited 10 minutes for a Thai Iced Tea that was served by the kitchen staff. During the meal my boyfriend expressed his discomfort because the servers were paying very close attention to his every move. To top things off when we requested the bill/check, it was practically thrown on the table. Because of the experience we opted to leave a small tip. The grand finale...as we were leaving one of the servers ran behind us (we were already out of the door) to announce to us that the tip we left was not sufficient and that she has a minimum amount she accepts (have you ever heard of such S@*&T). Seeing the anger in my boyfriend I decided to deal with the situation. I told her we were not going to tip her more because we weren't satisfied with the service we received. She maintained that the tip was too small. So I told her, I'm sorry she felt that way but we have no more to tip her. Her reaction and I quote " Well other people think before they order, you should do that next time so you can leave a good tip"
I will NEVER visit there again, she should thank God I controlled myself and didn't leave my palm print on her face for such rudeness.
Not bad. Its pretty average. They served tiny dim sum under the name dumplings. Everything seems to be made with the same spices. The food is pretty good, and the prices are decent, but I've been to better thai places. They have a desert of some little sweet rice cakes or something that is delicious. Stop by if you are a fan of thai food and in the area, they have several locations.
Tasty dishes served quickly in a not so romantic atmosphere.
User cindybd04 is obviously a born out-of-towner Manhattan snot. The food at Lemongrass is just fine, as is the service. Admittedly, the ambiance isn't ideal for romantic dates, but that's not what this restaurant is all about.
I'm guessing that cindybd04 copped an attitude the moment she walked in the door, and the (always friendly and fast moving) staff responded to her in kind.
String Beans with beef and the wings stand out among many fine dishes.
UGH!.
If the food was any good, I could forgive the incompetence. We ordered for delivery, but the woman got the order wrong (didn't speak english well). When we called to tell them, they said "oh we'll figure out and call you back." they never did. so five mins later, i called them back and the MANAGER said no i'm sorry we can not bring you back your correct order, since you paid for this order. SERIOUSLY? This is why you don't order delivery in Brooklyn!
And to top it off, the pad thai was seriously mushy and quite nauseating. The tom yum soup (ordered with shrimp, came with tofu - ugh) was not hot, nor spicy, nor any good. I will NEVER go back.
the chicken wings were alright
One of the best Thai restaurants in Park Slope. There are so many thai places in the neighborhood, but Lemongrass is one of the best. Prompt service, delicious, fresh food, very reasonably priced.
ok..but Chicken not so tasty. I was really excited to have some pad thai, but was not that impressed. The chicken just had a weird taste to it. I actually picked all of it out and just at the noodles. I thought it was somewhat bland as well and had to add lots of sauce. After all the I enjoyed it. it was a large portion which was great because I had leftovers for dinner and lunch the next day.
User review by juli_a. I've come here a few times and the food is consistently great, the portions are pretty generous, the waitstaff are very attentive and it's a fun place to eat because of the decor. It's also located in a pretty neighborhood filled with little boutiques and cafes.
