Best Haitian Resturant in Brooklyn. The last two reviews probably had a bad day and took it out on the waitress. The hostess was very nice and gave us the attention we deserved as customers. "ROOLS OR CORN BREAD" That is not the tradition of carribean resturants........If you go down the block to a bar and grill you might get peanuts but KOMBIT the food is exxxxcellent; my favorite is the Tasso and Creole shrimp.........I had a small birthday party in December all my friends and family were a 100% satisfied. By the way (for the last two reviews) I'm a haitian/american......lol

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I HAVE BEEN TO MANY RESTARUANTS IN THE PARK SLOPE AREA AND LOVED THE EXPERIENCE AND SERVICE. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH RUDE SERVICE BEFORE. WE WERE SEATED AND NO ROLLS OR CORN BREAD WERE PLACED AT THE TABLE. OUR WAITRESS DID NOTHING TO ACKNOWLEDGE US EVEN BEING THERE NOT EVEN A SMILE. SHE SEATED FOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS AFTER US AND FEED THEM BEFORE US AND STILL WE WAITED AND NOTHING. WE FELT LIKE IF WE WERE WHITE WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN BETTER SERVICE. WE ACTUALLY WERE THINKING TO HAVE OUR ENGAGEMENT PARTY THERE BUT RECONSIDER AFTER THE EXPERIENCE. SPEND YOUR MONEY SOME WHERE ELSE. WE WAITED FOR 1 HR AND THEN COMLIAINTED AND WALKED OUT.

IT WAS AS IF WE SAID SOMETHING WRONG WHEN NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGED US AFTER WE WERE SEATED.

what a disappointment. The food is medicore as far as haitian food goes ....it could be better and I have had better but some times the ambience in a place can be so great you dont care ....they are in a prime location with many park slopers ...but the other person who reviewed it...wondered why other people dont know about it......its quite simple they are very very rude ....we waited forever to be served; and one of the actual owners served us and she was curt and frankly rude....perhaps it may be because we were haitian ..maybe they prefer caucasians as clients only...which is really sad; I tried to support as I am haitian but when I invited a business client of mine for a meeting there and the lady/server snapped at him because of a silly question and continue talking to us in a demeaning manner --we both agreed never to go there again..its unfortunate bc they are in a prime location I guess they envisioned since its in park slope they would only have to cater to caucasian ..well they dont have to worry about getting business from at least two natives --count us out .....

I wake up craving their food monthly. This is one of those restaurants where every single time I go I feel like a "special" patron (they remember us!), I have a great time and best of all, I enjoy my food. I am sure the menu at Kombit has not changed since it opened, nor do they try to wow you with fancy plating, but let me tell you - the food is delicious. We've had almost everything on the menu in the last 3 years living in Brooklyn. When I am craving Kombit, nothing else will suffice. Their rice is to die for - smoky tasting and delicious when mixed w/ picles. My favorite is the griot - fried pork pieces. yes, that's what i said. it is so freaking good. the family that own kombit are so friendly and obviously always ready to discuss the history and meaning of their homeland's food. i feel like this place is over the head's of too many park-slopers... maybe it's not caucasian and trendy enough? who knows... i really could care less except i will honestly be so sad if this place doesn't make it. plus on fridays they usually have a live band which after a few drinks, you'll get up and start dancing. Go. Now.
