Worst haircut ever – I've been going to this salon for a few years and have been generally pleased with the service. The prices are reasonable, and the stylists have always done a good job. But just recently I had my hair cut by a male stylist there-- I'm not sure what his name was-- and received the worst haircut of my life. He was rude, didn't listen to what I wanted, and now my hair looks terrible. I'm never going back there again.
Good business, great stylists and fair prices – I've seen some good and bad reviews posted here and the bad reviews are many times neighborhood competitors bashing Le Chandelier Salon (which happens a lot on city search), disgruntle employees or customers who you could never please. Le Chandelier has been in business for over 11 years in Brooklyn and the owners have over 17 years of experience each with hundreds of returning satisfied customers. I think those number alone can speak to type of service you will get there. We get our hair cut and styled there all the time and never have issues, albeit I've seen some miserable customers in there, but hats off to the staff for handling them the best they can. So if you want a good hair cut/style, in my opinion you will get good service at Le Chandelier Salon.
Great atmosphere...greater stylists! – I was looking for something different. A salon that I could trust and build a longterm relationship with. So I decided to go to La Chandalier because I heard about a stylist who does all types of hair and is super creative. Her name is Chai. I was apprehensive, explaining to her that I wanted something different but for her to stay true to who I am. She gave me personalized attention, great tips, great conversation and an even GREATER cut. She was wonderful! And I'd recommend her to anyone!!
The down side? The shampoo girls would rather stand around looking bored than to actually pay attention to the clientele. But that's a totally minor observation.
Complete Amateurs – I am writing in response to the review in which one woman asks, "i wonder why those of us who love this place don't write as much as those who seem to have bad experiences." I'll venture an answer: because people like you must be few and far between. I had a simple blo out--not even a cut--and they couldn't get that right, beginning with the girl who washed my hair. She only washed the top! I had to point out to her that the back was still dry. Then, the girl who blew out my hair had no strength and didn't even use a brush that would grab the hair. Basic hair blowing 101. My hair was so bushy (despite the fact that the girl asked if I wanted volume, to which I replied "No. Devoid of volume, please."), I had to ask for the hot iron--an upcharge she did not inform me of. Oh, and one more thing ladies, they don't take cards, so bring cash if you still feel like venturing over there (another thing they failed to inform me of when I made my appointment).
Straight forward great haircuts – I think it's a shame that those of us who love this place don't write as much as those who seem to have bad experiences. I've hunted for lots of salons and this place is great. Jennifer is totally no nonsense and gets the job done. I barely have to explain what I want from her for her to "get it" and give me exactly the cut and color I want. And it's SO affordable after a lot of rip-offs. She's doing my wedding hair and make-up and the consultation took 20 minutes and was exactly what I wanted. I've recommended to her to a ton of friends all of whom have been happy as well. Le Petite Chandelier is fantastic as well!
Shame on you!!!!! – I don't understand how this place gets busy. Everyone seems so unprofessional. The salon is small as it is. The energy you feel in the place is not good. I saw co-workers having it out, and it wasn't pretty. I have enough drama in my life. My cut and color is a whole nother story. I would never go back to this horror. The prices were so off. I was so upset, that I just ran out of there.
Finally! A great salon! – I have tried a lot of salons around the city and finally found one I will stick with. Jennifer, a stylist at LeChandelier, has been cutting and coloring my hair for almost a year. I have never been so happy with my highlights, and I've been highlighting my hair since high school. They look totally natural, she always does a great job. The price is right and she really takes good care of you and knows what she's talking about. Thanks Jennifer!
eh. – I have really tried to give them a chance after the first time I got a cut from Rudy and LOVED IT. But the vibe is pretty negative and the other times I went they really messed up my hair. So now that I've found Rudy again I'm not inclined to go back.
Never Again!!!!!!! – This wanna be salon is so tacky. I will never give them another penny of mine. I should demand a refund. I hate my hair. It looks horrible. Between my cut and color, I'm not sure which is worse. They were so mean to me and my mom. Very unprofessional in my book. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Absolutely perfect. – Having a stylist who not only has talent, but LISTENS to the client, is priceless.
After I received a complete hack job of a haircut from another salon on 5th Ave., I (in desperation) called Le Chandelier for help. They fit me in within a few hours, and I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Janelle gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had, after taking the time to discuss with me exactly what I didn't like about my hair and what she could do to fix it. Even though she squeezed me in at the last minute between other appointments, I never felt that she was distracted or in a rush to finish with me. I've been back three times for trims, as well as to add bangs to my previously one-length bob, and each time I was thrilled with the results. I always, always look great when I leave, and my cut maintains its shape even with my own slightly inept at-home styling.
Also: They have an adorable girl who shampoos hair and gives the best scalp massage in the western hemisphere, AND the services are very reasonably priced.
