My New Salon – I recently moved from Chelsea to Park Slope. My friend told me Le Chandelier was the longest surviving salon on Fifth Avenue and that they have been in business for twelve years, so i decided to check them out. What I really liked is the "down to earth", non-intimidating, friendly atmosphere. The staff made me feel comfortable. Its a small salon with only three working chairs. I went with the owner and came out with one of the best haircuts I ever had. She let me dry under a head dryer, which I was I never had done and retouched the haircut after. I was amazed that my hair did not give me a problem even after I washed it at home two days later! I'm definately going back. She did not try to convince me to buy products either. When my friends visit me from Manhattan, I will try to get them to come here too. I'm sold!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY – I've been going to Le Chandelier for a couple years. There is a high turnover rate for stylists, and I have tried a bunch of different people - some good, some bad. Unfortunately the good ones don't stick around! Recently I went in for a trim and a stylist took it upon himself to cut over two inches off my length without consulting me! This salon has proven again and again to be UNPROFESSIONAL. That was the final straw and I won't be going back. I'm tired of paying A LOT OF MONEY for an unprofessional haircut/color. Go somewhere where your money will be worth it.
Was Not Happy With Cut or Color.!!! – I really thought we were on the same page, after the consult and all. I guess she gave me someone elses cut. There wasn't much to do about it, so I just left unhappy. The staff seemed to be very unprofessional. I'll never go back. I don't get the rave reviews at all, especially the most current. ( they must be homemade). I'm so tired of reading these reviews that are full of it. I would recommend to get referrals from friends than reading all these bogus reviews.
GREAT SALON – This is one of the best salons in NY. and its proven by Citysearch to be in the top 10. Year 2008. They even have a plaque from Citysearch confirming this in the window. So im tired of these bogus reviews, (probably done by X-employees; read the bad reviews and you will see), who want to ride on the tail of this well extablished, professional, artistic salon. This is the only way i could figure out why anyone would not be happy here. Everyone gets free consults B-FORE a cut/color or style is done, so if you leave with something you did not relay properly, it is unfair to blame the stylist! I love this salon, so does my wife and many of our friends in Park Slope. So stop bashing them.
Excellent Salon!!! – I am new to the area and was looking for a good hair salon. I read a bunch of online reviews for salons in the Slope area (so glad I did, there are so many badly reviewed places out there!) and eventually decided to give Le Chendelier a try - and I am SO happy I did! I didn't know what to expect and was a little nervous (previous hair salon traumas - I have very thick and wavy hair).
I called and got a same day appointment. I actually arrived a little earlier and didn't have to wait around.
Tara really listened to what I wanted (natural looking highlights that won't damage my already damaged hair) and she did a great job, not compromising the health of the hair. Her team were friendly and fun and the price very reasonable.
I am so happy I found Le Chendelier - I am definitely going back there :)
Bad color at Le Chandelier – I have had my haircut by Janelle at Le Chandelier and she always does a good job. She talked to me about my color and I decided to have her do the color, only to realize afterwards that she is probably not a colorist. My husband says that my hair is "not a disaster" but it looks like I colored it at home and didn't know what I was doing. It's very intense, dark and doesn't suit my face coloring..... I am horrified because it was very expensive and I feel like I paid for a professional coloring job but got something amateurish.......
To sum up, get Janelle to cut your hair.
Don't let her color it...
Is she actually a colorist? I don't think so and, if not, they shouldn't charge full price!
First class highlights – I have been going to Tara for about 3 years now, and I can say with confidence, that nobody does highlights better than her. I swear, I can wait 3-4 months between appointments, and it barely looks like they have grown out. Granted, I ask her to keep them natural looking, which helps, but she absolutely knows what she is doing. As far as haircuts go, she is not afraid of giving me her opinion, but then she does only what I am comfortable with. I will admit that in a pinch, I have strayed to other places, but I have always regretted it. She is the best in Brooklyn, as far as I am concerned.
LOVE MY HAIR! – This salon is amazing! Chai is a sick new stylest who does my fun cuts, and Jen does my amazing color! The owner Tara is a real person who will make you feel right at home if your new to the area. The dates of the bad reviews areso old i decided to try it for myself sense its so close to home. The girls sitting around staring are upcoming stylest who just want to watch the cut, they want to learn and i can respect that. GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!
Take a picture . . . it will last longer. – this salon is okay but the people make it not so okay. the girls working there (not the stylists who are busy doing their jobs) but the other girls who sort of walk / sit around doing nothing, do just that - nothing, except STARE at the customers while getting their hair done. a person wants to walk into a salon, relax and not worry about being gawked at. Get a life girls and didn't yo mama tell you it's not nice to STARE.
Question about Stylist – Does anyone know if Mark (formerly of Robert Joseph Salon and the Anthony Thomas Hair Group) is at this location? Thanks!
