Worst Customer Service for Engagement Rings. I walked to the back of the store to look at the engagement rings and no one was there to help. I asked someone at the front desk to help and a woman came out and barely made eye contact. She seemed to be doing her job grudgingly and when asked if I could could get a quote on a gem, she took a work order. Then, I asked when I can get a response and she said that the woman who could tell me is buying jewelry for the next few days and will be back on Friday. Then, I asked again, when can I get a quote then. She said, "well not Friday." Still, no answer...Even though Greenwich Jewelers is slightly more expensive, I highly recommend them. They are much more accommodating and make shopping for an engagement a lot less daunting and more enjoyable.

Love my ring!. My fiance and I went to Clay Pot after I had looked at their selection of e-ring online. We were going to be using an heirloom diamond handed down from my great grandmother and I was understandably very concerned with the process and wanted to make sure that the diamond would be safe and would work with the setting we found. The staff was very reassuring, explained in detail their process and assured me that it was something they do regularly. I found the setting of my dreams and we went ahead with the order. It took a few weeks because my diamond needed to be shipped to the artist in San Francisco. They insured the stone (after we gave them copies of the appraisal certificate from the Gemological Society) and in about five weeks the ring was completed and PERFECT! I did need to get it resized because I had lost some weight and needed to go down a size but the first sizing was free and everything worked out great. I definitely would recommend Clay Pot for anyone looking at buying an engagement ring. They are a bit pricey, but the craftmanship of their rings is superb and worth the price, IMO.

Awesome Wedding Ring Experience!. I went to the store after browsing through their website. They have an awesome array of unique wedding rings.

They carried the designer, but not the specific style I wanted to see, so they ordered a sample band for me from the designer. While I was still contemplating (about 2-3 weeks after seeing the ring), they called me to notify me that the store was starting a sale on all wedding bands -- 10% off. I remember thinking that it was a great way to make me come back -- and it worked! I bought the ring through them, and they delivered as promised. They also helped me get the band resized and adjusted until I was completely satisfied. All along the way, they gave me updates and acted as my advocate with the designer. It was truly a worry-free experience.

Fantastic Engagement Ring Experience. Last fall, my fiance and I started shopping for an engagement ring; more to the point, he allowed me to design it. I have very specific tastes: 1. No diamonds (I wanted sapphires, but had a blacklist of countries I didn't want them to be from for political reasons); 2. Modest budget; 3. Antique setting. Of all the places to which I submitted this tall order (and there were many jewelers who either didn't reply, or couldn't guarantee conflict-free stones, or just wanted a ton of money), only the ClayPot responded in the positive. Because we were not in a hurry, they literally hunted for MONTHS for just the right sapphire center and side stones, even providing the provenance. They also introduced us to wonderful platinum smiths for the setting, and remained committed to giving me the ring I wanted within our budget. We were NEVER pressured in any way; in fact, we were given the option to purchase the stones through them and then have them put in a setting elsewhere if we weren't happy with the settings they offered. As it turned out, we found just the right platinum smith, and everything worked out wonderfully. In April, my fiance presented me with a unique engagement ring that has my personality written all over it: a champagne sapphire flanked by white sapphires, in an engraved platinum band -- and we get compliments on it ALL THE TIME. It is truly a success story. We are now finalizing selections for our wedding bands, and the ClayPot has definitely earned our business for them. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a CREATIVE, knowledgeable, affordable, and stress-free jewelry experience. You can go outside the box without paying a fortune!

Worth the trip!. My fiancee and I had been looking at engagement ring settings in Philadelphia and I hadn't found anything quite right. I wanted something handmade and a bit unusual. I started searching the internet for places in or around NYC, figuring I needed to cast a wider net. I came across the store's website, and it looked promising. We drove to Park Slope to check out the store in person and we're very glad we did. The service and selection were excellent, the prices fair, and our entire experience was positive. The people who helped us were attentive and knowledgeable; they were generous with their time and we never felt pressured. It was a warm, unpretentious and friendly environment. The long drive to get there and back was absolutely worth it. We received the ring yesterday and couldn't be happier.

a "diamond in the rough"!. The ring department and the jewelry designer went the extra mile to help me create something truly special for my bride-to-be. I wanted something unique but tasteful, and my fiancee absolutely loves it. They're more design-oriented than the kind of store where the focus is all about the "rock", but I selected a great diamond and didn't go anywhere near the "two months' salary" mark. Stress-free, extensive selection, helpful staff. Well worth the trip from Manhattan!

Don't do it!. They have beautiful rings from talented artisans, but my suggestion would be look there and buy elsewhere. After six months we are still waiting for a certificate for one of the stones in my ring--that's just a basic thing that any jeweler (or dealer) should get right, but we keep getting excuses and put off. I agree wholeheartedly with the previous posters who cited poor customer service.

Horrendous Service. I was so dissapointed in this store! Specifically, I shopped (or tried to, although it felt more like begging to shop) for my fiancee's engagement ring here. The staff was incredibly unhelpful, never followed up (I had to continuously show up at the store to get answers on questions posed weeks before although was told there would be "no problem" to call or email the answers) and i always felt like i was putting someone out!

Sadly, the selection is very interesting and they offer creative, unusual rings but i cannot recommend this place, which is really unfortunate!
