This place was terrible 15 years ago when I had a bad experience with the owner -- very dishonest and greedy.
Interesting to see that they are still getting negative reviews. Shop elsewhere, or shop for styles there, and then buy online at half the price!

I am amazed at the terrible reviews. About 5 years ago I went looking for a new pair of glasses. As a designer, I am very very picky, especially about something that is going to sit on my face! I went to at least 10 shops in Brooklyn and Manhattan looking for the right glasses. In the end I must have "visited" the glasses I ended up purchasing no less than 4 times, including bringing a designer friend to confirm.
The reasons why I liked this shop: 1. the owner must have let me try on at least half the glasses in the shop. Other shops either ignored their customers or lost patience. 2. Although he (I think his name is Paul) is incredibly cheesy and wears wacky glasses himself, he has an amazing eye. He knew what would look great on my face and the frames he chose were the ones I liked the best. 3. They had a really diverse selection of frames and a lot that I didn't see at every other frame shop. 4. This is a family store. This is a husband and wife team that have been in the neighborhood forever. Their son comes in. Their salespeople they keep on fulltime and so they know/learn the business- no part time teenagers. 5. They've reshaped my frames whenever I've bent them (the nose guards) out of place.
Cons: 1. Price is higher. 2. That cheese factor referred to earlier. I had to contain my eye rolling.
This is a great shop. I have sent my friends there, gotten other pairs of frames, lenses and contacts. I had one pair of Japanese frames that were unusual, but also had unusual nose pads. Cool looking, but annoying because they would fall off every 6 months or so. The shop would always replace them and gave me extra as a precautionary measure. When I first got contact lenses I must have tried 5-6 different manufactures and was a regular at the shop for a couple weeks, no complaints. The customer service has been great.
I have and will continue to recommend this place to friends.
Terrible Customer Service - Owner lies.
I can't say enough bad things about Eye Shoppe on 7th in Park Slope.
I've had vision problems all my life and had tons of glasses. When I moved to the neighborhood, I wanted to give my business locally. I went in and bought a pair of $300 frames (not including lenses).
The owner (he's the one w/ the terrible comb-over) seemed totally nice and I walked away happy to support a Park Slope business.
Within 2 weeks, the screw came out of my glasses. I thought that was odd, as something like this usually doesn't happen for at least a year or two, if at all. Anyway, I thought nothing of it, brought it in, they replaced the screw and I was set.
Then it happened again 3 weeks later.
And again 5 weeks later.
And again. And again. I complained and asked for my frames to be replaced on the fourth time and he promised me it wouldn't happen again.
On the fifth time in, I asked again for my frames to be replaced and he said: "Sorry. These glasses are several months old. Now, if you had brought them in earlier, I could have helped you."
"But I brought them in within two weeks and I've had the same problem countless times."
"Well, a screw coming out is common."
"Really?" I asked. "It's common to fall out 5 times in 8 months?"
"There is no normal amount of time," he lied.
"I've had glasses all my life. This has NEVER happened to me before. I think you should replace them -- they were obviously defective."
"Well, if you had asked me earlier..."
"But I brought them in within 2 weeks!"
"Yeah, well... you didn't ask me to replace them then. Now it's too late."
Not only is this terrible business, but it's just plain stupid, as I live in the neighborhood, I wear glasses, my wife wears glasses and I have a million friends who wear glasses. I pointed this out. He said: "I can't give you a new pair."
"But you own the place. So you *could* if you wanted to."
"Fine, let me correct that statement. I *won't*."
Anyway, the guy was a total sleazeball. Stay away.
So rude!. Horrible customer service! I wanted to patronize a local Park Slope business, and I was willing to spend a bit more on my glasses because of this. They tack on all sorts of fees to your purchase, lie about delivery date, and are generally bizarre socially---very defensive if you ask a simple question, like when to expect your glasses.
Great Service a little pricey.

I just bought a couple for the new year.
Any time I've had a problem with my frames they have been able to help me out.
As far as the Optometrist their I have no clue, I use my own.
Extremely helpful and no pressure to buy.
Steered me to a cheaper frame in one case.
Terrible service!. This place is awful. Steer clear. I went there thinking I'd get good service because it's a small privately owned store. But they lie about their prices and their service, give you wrong delivery dates and even bungled my prescription. First lie: I asked how much the eye exam was, and they said it was $100. After I've done it, I find out it's $140. They say, "oh, $100 is just the initial consultation." How am I supposed to know there's a difference between the "exam" and the "consultation?" Then, I had to order contact lenses urgently before my vacation. They said they would have them by Monday, but didn't get them until Thursday. Then when I went to pick them up, they pretended they were giving me better ones, but in fact they gave me the WRONG prescription because they had bungled the order and didn't actually have mine. I couldn't see properly out of one eye. Their doctor gives you appointments, and then goes out to lunch, so you have to wait until she gets back and finishes her lunch behind a closed door before she can see you. This place is just the worst service I have ever had for eye care. Avoid it like the plague!!
Terrible service!. The people who run this place do not listen and do not care about their customers. I have waited three times for them to get my glasses right and each time, it's poorly crafted and the prescription was wrong. This has been going on for over two weeks now and they are extemely rude and unhelpful! Go spend your $600 dollars elsewhere!
