Neighborhoods: Park Slope
is "montblanc" kidding – living in park slope for several years, and this is the last place i would go. she has to be related to the owner.
Great burgers, Friendly service – A great neighborhood spot. Fast and friendly service every time we?ve been ? and we go often. Yes, be prepared to be around a lot of kids (especially in the main dining room) but don?t forget you?re in Park Slope. Always am happy with the burgers and salad!
Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible Terrible – If you like dirty dishwater for soup and a mushy pile of undercooked slop for a burger, visit Johnny Macks!!
Echoing several other comments on this board, the manager is nothing short of a maniac. I didnt want to eat the raw pile of pureed lima beans that was supposed to be a veggie burger, so I politely asked for something else. Rather than offer his apologies or another option, the manager made a scene less mature than my 4 year old. My dinner and the dinner of my 6 tablemates was thoroughly ruined. Needless to say, I won't be back.
Terrible Food and Bad Managment – The food at Johnny Mack's is terrible. It's hardly a restaurant. I don't understand why everything is so over priced? The manager is a brute who yells in the dining area and shows no regard to his client's comfort. This place is awful. On top of it all, everything on the menu is ridiculously over priced. The only good thing about it is the building that houses it - it's a large space with a nice looking bar, but again, don't go to this "restaurant" if you're looking for food. There are plenty of restaurants in Park Slope and this is not one of them.
Any good reviews of this place must be an unauthentic - they sound unauthentic and it's impossible that anyone would think that johnny mack's food is any good. I bet the owner wrote these himself.
RIP OFF, SMELLY, & LOADED W/ CRAZY KIDS – I don't even know where to begin!!!! Friday night my boyfriend & went.....UGH! The servers MUST be on tranquilizers...there were children with pool sticks!!! And nobody to tame these animals running from the "play room" to their tables...Where do these parents get off letting their kids run wild? A cool pinball machine, OVER PRICED menu. Mixed greens for $8? Really!!! Burger was good but not worth the wait....20 minutes for a burger and a salad...Bartender was just as drunk as the locals by 9pm....Truly with all the other options in this neighborhood I will never return to this place.....Inattentive server didn't help either. I sat with an empty soda for 15 minutes, which was neither coke nor pepsi, must've been some cheap imitation....GROSS for 2.50 I should get the real thing!!! One would think...no ketchup, or condiments for that matter. Table top was filthy and streaky. The shirts those poor girls must wear are terrible. Not funny in least. And apparently the owner was at the bar...I over heard him talking. Living in this neighborhood for 7 years I can only say that people have mentioned this ogar, Tony Soprano wanna be of a person. It is really true. The best part of the whole place is not the $5 scoop of ice cream it's the RED HEN next door...Oh one more thing...the bathroom smelled awful...kinda like a really old air freshener...GROSS. So overall definitely gotta skip this place, especially living or visiting such a cute neighborhood
Best burger in the 'hood – I'd say the menu is generally below-average for the neighborhood, but if you want a burger, this is the place to go. And in good weather, you can sit outside.
Good place to grab a quick bite to eat – Been there a few times good place to grab a beer & some munchies. One of the few place with a decent kids menu. Friendly & quick service.
Horrible Management – I work for a very prestigious company and I was looking to host a day time event at this venue. The manager was extremely rude an his lack of interest in my business was appalling...they must have a very established restaurant to be able to turn away such a valid piece of business. I would never inquire about an event there again and will pass the word on to my colleagues...many of which live in the neighborhood...
Best in town – Friendly and attentive service. Good beer selections. I had the lobster ravioli--good size portion with a delicious vodka cream sauce. My husband had the chicken porcini--he said it was the best meal he's ever had in Park Slope. We've lived here for 2 years and tried just about every restaurant on Seventh Ave. I will definitely go back.
Below Average Sportbar-Restaurant – I have been to Johnny Mack's many times simply because it is less than 1 block from my house. I would never travel to come to this place. The food is average, the drinks simple, and the clientele boring. I can olny recommend this place if you have no car and means to travel anywhere else. One funny thing is the group of four regulars that sit all day and drink Jeigermeister, they are Brooklyn's finest.
