Aunt Suzie“great place for a romantic night.”
“Meal began with a salad, the main course came with a side of pasta and red sauce (next time I'll pay the extra $2.50 to upgrade to one of the more interesting sauces), and ended, in my case, with an enormous chocolate mousse (first time I've ever not fini”
“The wine was Great!”
“The menu is enormous and the food is excellent”
“Not only does it have the best home cooking in Park Slope at the most affordable prices, but the variety of dishes to choose from will keep you happy forever.”
“This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn.”
“The food, service and atmosphere are all great and you don't have to refinance to eat there.”
“If you are looking for great southern Italian food in Brooklyn, try Queen in Brooklyn Heights (though it is expensive) or countless other cheaper places in South Brooklyn or Bensonhurst.”
“we've had some slow service in the past, but not always.”
Great Prices. We've been coming here for more than 12 years - and the food is consistent, staff always very friendly, and the prices are fair. It's not fancy, it's family! I hope they stick around another 30 years (that should take care of my needs any way!)
Best Neighborhood Restaurant in the Slope.
This restaurant is my favorite when I want to chow down on good homey red sauced Italian food.
The homemade gnocchi is especially delicious and when i want a special treat, I go for the steak
which at 19.90 is a bargain. The service is very friendly and way above average. The armosphere is wonderful, evoking memories of family and warmth.
Better red than dead southern italian. Awful unless you like greasy food like chef boyardee. Atmosphere is the same as any diner that is down on its luck.
If you like Italian food, STAY AWAY!. I would like to know what people are ordering at this place that is so delicious. I gave it a second try today and it was still some of the worst Italian food I have ever had. I ordered takeout and it took over an hour and a half. The delivery guy said the traffic was really bad. I live 5 blocks away!!! Needless to say, my eggplant parm was cold and needed to be reheated. The tiramisu does not even taste like it has any marscapone in it, just whip cream. The whole meal left a bad taste in my mouth (literally). Blah!
Best Southern Italian Meat Sauce. Wow! What a great meal. The meat sauce was a fabulous contrast to the light and fluffy home made gnocci. No wonder this place has been around for so long. They seem to know what they are doing. The service was friendly and professional and the atmosphere made me feel right at home.
I don't get why people like this place. With so many choices in the nabe, why do people go here? I suppose if you're not so choosy about quality, and you're looking for quantity, this place is a good value. I found nothing remarkable here except for the large portions and cheap prices. I can do much better in my own kitchen, because at least I'd start with the freshest/finest ingredients. Nothing I've ever had here tasted fresh, original, remarkable, or particularly tasty.
Cozy, comfortable, & delicious.. Aunt Suzie looks like something a grandmother would set up to serve family style meals, with its paper doilies at every place and dangling antique-style chandeliers. And it is truly a classic Italian family-style restaurant, with great food at really affordable prices. Can't wait to go again and try more dishes! They have a huge pasta list, and entrees with great flavors such as sauteed mushrooms, proscuitto, white wine sauces and more. They serve chicken, veal, duck, salmon, tuna, shrimp, steak, and more. The salads have fabulous ingredients and flavors worthy of an antipasti platter in Italy. The chicken garlissimo was to die for-- sweet caramelized garlic, very melt-in-your mouth and unique. A great sounding dessert list, we had sundaes this time but want to try the tiramisu, frozen key lime pie, cheese cake, etc.... Affordable wine list. Highly recommended!
Great place for a sunday brunch!. Having read both good and bad reviews, i didn't know what to expect from this place. I finally went to Aunt Suzie's for a Sunday brunch...and i was really impressed. I was seated quickly (for a party of 3) and the food was buffet style. They had everything from pasta to waffles and there was a guy making fresh omelettes, waffles and crepes. They also had 5 kinds of dessert. Best of all, it was only $15/person. The place was cozy and very has a very homely. I plan to make more regular trips back to this place for brunch. I have no idea what their lunch or dinner is like, but if you want to find a good place for brunch, i highly recommend trying out this place.
Yummy. Comfortable, inexpensive, the food is terrific and the service is friendly. What more could anyone want. I have become a great fan of the Shell Steak which is a real bargain and as good as you are going to get anywhere.
Primo Italiano. Great neighborhood find. Noisey and informal, I felt at home. The food can best be described as Italian comfort food red and delicious. How many places are left that are proud they serve meatballs and baked ziti.
