The Scene
Huddled between the brownstones on Park Slope's leafiest main thoroughfare, this old-school pub makes the most of its traditional space. Candles and lanterns softly illuminate high-backed booths, a brick-exposed wall and the forest-green tin ceiling. The low-key vibe, the kids' menu and the dual TV set-up, with sports in one corner and cartoons in the other, attract the young families that populate the nearby streets.
The Draw
There's got 20 beers on tap, including more uncommon selections like the organic Otter Creek Porter and the creamy Belhaven Scottish Ale. The brew connoisseurs that run the place aren't snobs, though--you can get Bud or Corona by the bottle, too. Juicy burgers and an assortment of noteworthy bar snacks round out the menu. The homemade corn chips never get soggy under nacho cheese, the baked brie with apples and a baguette delivers an upscale bite and the fried pickles would make Elvis Presley proud.

I've given this bar a chance to make up for my previous bad experiences, but time and again the waitstaff keeps disappointing. I'll never go back after my last and worst experience where we were kicked off a table by a group who came after us. Trust me, this place is not worth the horrible service and there are far too many better bars in the area.

Park Slope Ale House is a great bet if you want a big juicy burger and frothy pints of beer. Atmosphere is nice, and seating outside in the summer is great.
