“Please pay no mind to the one sour apple reviewer, Mezcal's is a great place to eat.”
“His response was it was our fault for not telling the waiter who took the order how we liked the beef to be cooked.”
“And the prices are terrific.”
“The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and quick and the margaritas are downright addictive.”
Bad Food, Awful Service. I just had dinner with husband there last night. We ordered beef fajita and an appetizer. The beef fajita was very bland and the beef was extremely dry. It was hard to chew and swallow. So when one of the 2 waiters asked if everything was okay, I decided to let him know about the dish. His response was it was our fault for not telling the waiter who took the order how we liked the beef to be cooked. So they screwed up our meal. I thought it was very irresponsible to response a customer that way. At this point, we will never go back again and we will tell all our friends not to go there either.
HORRENDOUS with a side of ROACHES.
Since the Atlantic Ave. location is not listed I felt compelled to review here. It was SO BAD that I got a Citysearch account just to put the word out. We sat for 15 minutes before our order was taken. We were one of TWO tables in the entire place. After cutting into my bean burrito, everything slid right through the fork because the mixture was so thin. When i say thin, I mean could have sucked it through a straw thin, watery. Then I tasted it and it was flavor-free and ice cold. My Girlfriends food was also cold. We then had to wait and try to get the waiters attention to tell him. Finally he took the food to the kitchen, as we waited and debated whether or not 2 leave we had to little visitors to our table, ROACHES.This place is really low class, low quality and a dead atmosphere.
SO:
ROACHES and cold runny food. If you are a sadist, this place is for you.
Horrible food, worse service. By far the worst mexican food I have ever eaten. Maybe I'm a little harsh because i'm from Houston where there are real MEXICANS. My waiter didn't even know what queso was when I asked. Food was overpriced and tasted like caca. That's poo in spanish. It cost me 10 bucks for two sodas with one refill. My wifes tostada was the side of a silver dollar, with canned refried beans and three strands of grated cheese. My enchiladas had grated cheese inside them that wasn't even melted. The chips I could of bought at the closest grocery store. If you people think that this place is good mexican food your in for a big surprise. My waiter looked mexican but I don't think he could speak english or spanish. I wouldn't urine on this place if it was on fire. Don't waste your time or money. Mezcals is a disgrace to mexican food accross the world!!!!!
Okay food, lousy service. This was my first time here, and I live in the neighborhood. I have to say that while the food was pretty decent, the service left a lot to be desired. They sat us at a dirty table, and then cleaned it once we sat down. Then, when my fiance went to the bathroom, they asked if I (we?) wanted a drink. They should have waited for us both to be there! Once she returned, it took them a LONG time to ask for our order. The restaurant was practically empty. Chips were brought to the table only when we ordered drinks and food. They were tasteless and I had to salt them. As SOON as I had finished my last bite of the main course, the waiter flew over, said "Finished??", and grabbed my plate away as if he had a plane to catch. The good thing was, they must have been in such a hurry, they forgot to charge us for the drinks.
Good food, nasty child with yo-yo. Husband was pelted by a yo-yo-wielding yuppie child skipping through the back yard to the delight of yuppie parents. Yuppie parents did try to get child to apologize, but child ran away to target another patron. Hey, it takes a village, right?
If You Like Mexican Food This Is a Must Try..... I'm not sure what was afflicting the previous reviewer, because Mezcal's is an excellent restaurant. I will admit that the service can get a bit spotty when it comes to getting water, but other than that it's great. The food is always superb, the flechas are excellent, i always get not dinner, not the appetizer size. The margaritas are EXCELLENT!!!!!! Not sure if I can emphasize this enough....EXCELLENT!!! If you like something sweet the chango loco or the pink cadillac, I really like the siete leguas. Please pay no mind to the one sour apple reviewer, Mezcal's is a great place to eat.
bad atmosphere.
Decent fajitas, terrible syrupy margaritas. WAY OVER PRICED!
I don?t know what the past reviewers were thinking but $17 dollar fajitas and $7 margaritas is too much to pay for a place with zero atmosphere and sub par service.
Good Old Standby. When I first moved to the area, I wanted to find a good Mexican restaurant immediately. I found it and it is Mezcal's. It's not the prettiest place in the neighborhood but it is so worth it. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and quick and the margaritas are downright addictive. I am not proud to say, I've never left there without having at least two. This restaurant is also vegetarian friendly making it the perfect Mexican restaurant in my book.
Great food.. The food is fresh, hot and plentiful and so very delicious. And the prices are terrific. The waiters are friendly and caring. Enjoy!
Authentic Food. Service could be improved, we never received water refills but other than that the food was authentic Mexican. My family and I (four Mexican Americans) ate in silence because the food was that great. I strongly recommend the beef flautas. Chimichangas and soft tacos were great too.
