“Cozy, happy atmosphere.”
“And for a dessert-lovin' chick like me, it's rare that I liked the dessert least of all.”
“mean really, in less than 5 minutes, the wine went from pettilant to full frizzante (we aren't talking about lambrusco here).”
“Great food.”
“but all I can say that everything on the menu is superb.”
“The only problem is that they don't take reservations, but you can put your name on the list and head for the nice wine bar around the corner from the restaurant.”
“Tagliatelle with meat ragu was delicious, I'd go back just for that.”
“The waiter was helpful and conscientious.”
“Oh, and the wine is ridiculously overpriced.”
“just moved to Brooklyn and this place became a quick favorite.”
Al di la is one of the few Michelin-starred restaurants in Brooklyn and a local favorite. Anticipate lines because it's the perfect date spot.
One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. The pastas are incredible, the risottos (particularly the sepia) are fantastic and the braised rabbit is amazing.
One of the best, if not THE best, restaurants in Park Slope (and NY in general). Everything on the menu is great. This establishment is the real deal. Wish NY had more of these kind of places: intimate, superb food, homey, top notch all the way around, certainly worth the wait.
Live's Up to the Hype. I've lived in Park Slope for years, but haven't been to al di la because of the long waits. Recently, however, they started opening up for Tuesday nights. I guess most people don't know about it, because the wait for a table at 8 was really short (just a few minutes). Anyway, the food lived up to the hype. I really dug the shabby-chic ambiance. The staff was courteous and professional. I have been missing out. Can't wait to go back (even if I have to wait).
Maitre-D-"Eat and get out". My family ate here last weekend. The food and service were fine, however the maitre-D was incredibly unwelcoming and arrogant. While finishing our meals which included a high-end bottle of wine, our son's fiance joined us for a glass of wine and dessert. This guy refused to seat her and she left, followed shortly by the four of us, but not before I told him that in my 40 years of world travel, including Paris, that I had never seen such a display of bad behavior by a frontman in a restaurant. His response was smug, arrogant, and condescending, totally consistent with his deportment on display all evening. A word to the wise: you can't dine here and disturb the maitre-D's sense of " table turnover", as whacked as it is, or else. If you go here, do it on his off-night.
One of the Best In Brooklyn. I've always had great experiences coming here. Although they don't take reservations and I've had to wait 30-60 min at times, it's been worth the wait. The food is very good. Almost everything is sure to be a good pick. I recommend the sepia risotto or the ribs if they're available. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Can't say that I've had a better staff wait on me in Brooklyn, with the exception of River Cafe. If you're is looking for great Italian cuisine, or great food in general, this is a sure bet.
Lives up to the hype. We've lived around the corner from this place for over a year and finally had dinner there. We've tried before but it always packed and doesn't take reservations. It was well worth the wait. The wife had the risotto which was amazing. It doesn't look appetizing as it's covered in squid ink and it turns your lips and teeth black, but the taste was phenomenal. The farro salad and the mashed yukon potatoes were also extremely tasty.
Best In ALL of NYC. This is the MOST wonderful restaurant in all of New York City, not just Brooklyn... for 7 years they have put out the most tasty, most delicious food and kept it that way... never swaying, never a bad meal, never bad service... I'm telling you... you should travel from the Bronx to try it... great food, great wine list, great service in a great neighborhood... so delicious!!!!!!
amazing. we have eaten at the best restaurants in ny and al di la is one of our faves. reasonable, wonderful, consistent, dependable, always worth it, always romantic and fun, great service/staff, excellent wine choices, some of our favorite dishes (TRY the beet ravioli even though it sounds odd, it's fantastic, the cuddlefish risotto special is often on the menu and is amazing, the tripe app is awesome and the carpaccio is divine) -- it's just never a disappointment and always leaves you feeling like you just made all of the right decisions in life and didn't have to break the bank to feel like a million bucks.
What a hassle!.
The food is very good, but not outstanding. There is no way it justifies the accolades it receives, the attitude of the staff or the wait for a table. On our last visit, they skipped over our name on the list, leaving us waiting an extra hour for a table. Mistakes happen, but they are usually accompanied by an apology, perhaps even a glass of wine...but not the grunt that we received from the Al Di La staff.
Without the wait or attitude, I would probably go back, but there are just too many other restaurants in Brooklyn that are as good or better and don't make me jump through hoops.
