“the menu is different but not terribly appetizing, the waitstaff (hostess and male waiter) aren't rude but certainly are indifferent and turn what should be a warm, pretty room into a somehow remote atmosphere.”

“My partner loves the hangar steak while I am unwaveringly devoted to the pork saltimbocca.”

Live's Up to the Hype. I've lived in Park Slope for years, but haven't been to al di la because of the long waits. Recently, however, they started opening up for Tuesday nights. I guess most people don't know about it, because the wait for a table at 8 was really short (just a few minutes). Anyway, the food lived up to the hype. I really dug the shabby-chic ambiance. The staff was courteous and professional. I have been missing out. Can't wait to go back (even if I have to wait).

Maitre-D-"Eat and get out". My family ate here last weekend. The food and service were fine, however the maitre-D was incredibly unwelcoming and arrogant. While finishing our meals which included a high-end bottle of wine, our son's fiance joined us for a glass of wine and dessert. This guy refused to seat her and she left, followed shortly by the four of us, but not before I told him that in my 40 years of world travel, including Paris, that I had never seen such a display of bad behavior by a frontman in a restaurant. His response was smug, arrogant, and condescending, totally consistent with his deportment on display all evening. A word to the wise: you can't dine here and disturb the maitre-D's sense of " table turnover", as whacked as it is, or else. If you go here, do it on his off-night.

One of the Best In Brooklyn. I've always had great experiences coming here. Although they don't take reservations and I've had to wait 30-60 min at times, it's been worth the wait. The food is very good. Almost everything is sure to be a good pick. I recommend the sepia risotto or the ribs if they're available. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Can't say that I've had a better staff wait on me in Brooklyn, with the exception of River Cafe. If you're is looking for great Italian cuisine, or great food in general, this is a sure bet.

Lives up to the hype. We've lived around the corner from this place for over a year and finally had dinner there. We've tried before but it always packed and doesn't take reservations. It was well worth the wait. The wife had the risotto which was amazing. It doesn't look appetizing as it's covered in squid ink and it turns your lips and teeth black, but the taste was phenomenal. The farro salad and the mashed yukon potatoes were also extremely tasty.
