Terrible Food!. So my GF and I were very dissappointed when Red Hot closed ,they had the best chinese food in the neighborhood in our opinion! Anyway a few weeks ago we saw a blog that said they were reopening which we were very excited about. Last sunday we went in and got out usual order of General Tso chicken, mixed Lo Mein, scallion pankcakes and some sauteed vegetables. It was awful!! The chicken was overfried and the sauce didnt taste like much, Same can be said for the lo mein. It tasted like boiled noodles. We also noticed its called RedHot II so were guessing they dont have the same chef.

Its sad we must go on the hunt once again for a great Chinese take out place!

CLOSED????. Suddenly the windows are all closed-up, there are NO tables inside, nobody answers the phone, and the mail is piling up beneath the mail slot. All signs point to out-of-business. But why!?

A Suggestion. If you loved this place and are sad it is gone you should go to TOFU on 7th. They are tasty, reliable, and cheap.

Strange - It does look closed. Without any warning, no signs, no hints from the staff. But it hasn't been open all week & there's no answer on the phone. What a shame if they're gone, because they were the most reliable Chinese in the neighborhood. Consistently good food & we don't know where to go without them!

bad, bad food. I ordered a dish they recommended over the phone and spent my last twenty dollars only to be extrtemely disappointed by a hodge podge mix of massive vegetables, and a meat that was supposed to be pork, but tasted like some indeterminate meat, sauce was sour and sparce of flavor, tofu tasted like a kitchen sponge, I would not recommend this restaurant, nor will I ever order from them again, even if they gave me back my money. . .

Best Chinese in Brooklyn..good for vegetarians.. I personally tend to dislike Chinese food but I've been going to Red Hot for years and years and have never been disappointed. This is one of the most consistent eateries in Brooklyn. I love it for its cleanliness and feshness. Their food NEVER has that heavy, greasy aftertaste and texture which is the main reason why I don't like Chinese food and yet I am still able to enjoy this particular place. They are very willing to customize your order in any way, I always call with subsitution requests, etc. The lunch special is great and even the normal prices are so very afforadable, my boyfriend and I stuff oursleves for under 20 dollars and always take home leftovers. I've never had the feeling they were using "mystery" meat in any of the dishes either. The basic staples like Chicken in Garlic Sauce and Chicken Fried Rice are always very reliable and they load their food with fresh and healthy ingredients. Also, tons of good vegetarian options. Very fast delivery in the area as well.

Not that hot.... For a Chinese place in Park Slope, you only have to be average to stand out. This place is decent, serves dependable dishes, but isn't worth paying (relatively) higher prices. I like spicy food, but I have to say that their idea of spicy was really just pepper and vinegar. The people are nice, but unfortunately the food could be better.

So good!. Red Hot is my favorite! Their food tastes fresh, they put tons of vegetables in all of their dishes, and I don't think anything they prepare comes out of a can. I love that they don't send you condiments unless you ask for them. Try their bean curd with black mushrooms - it's my favorite dish, and it's the best I've ever tasted! Really good hot & sour soup, too. And SO FAST!

Best Chinese takeout in Brooklyn!. Red hot is a truly excellent Chinese restaurant in Park Slope. My girlfriend and I recently ordered take out from them for the first time, and over the past 2 weeks we've gotten food no less than 6 times! The tofu vegetable soup and vegetable wonton soup are both especially outstanding. The most notable thing about their food is the quality of the ingredients. Unlike most Chinese restaurants, Red Hot uses very fresh vegetables, and does not overcook them until they wilt. The sauces are also clearly healthier than at most chinese restaurants, because they don't thicken in the refrigerator over night. Highly reccomended.
