Pep Boys Store Has a Lot,.. I Mean a Lot of Car Stuff!!. The Pep Boys store on 4th Ave. has a lot of car stuff, I mean a lot of car stuff!!! Way better, way more car stuff than the Strauss store on 4th Ave, which is a mere cubby hole in comparison. Don't waste a minute at the Strauss store on 4th Ave, I did twice and just after buying something there, I went into the Staples on 4th Ave and discovered the Pep Boys store right next door. They have a very good assortment of car maintenance goods at okay prices. I mean just the variety of squeegees alone is excellent. Research everything before you buy.....drivers!! Alright the attitude from the clerks is lackadaisical but hey this is the Brooklyn pace,.. Yuppies!!!

i should have listened to the reviews. so i read many bad reviews but decided to go anyways because it was close. i called regarding an oil pressure light that turned on and also a tapping noise. i was told to bring it in right away as they had openings. i went in within 15 minutes and they said they would have it diagnosed in an hour. after an hour they said that the switch for the light needed to be fixed and it would cost about $300. i asked "was that it ,a faulty switch?" and told "there might be a leak," they weren't sure. "what about the tapping noise," "they didn't know how to get it fixed."

so they pretty much didn't diagnose anything were just going to replace the switch and didn't know if there was a leak or kink. i told them i just wanted my car and they gave it to me without charge. that was the only thing they did professionally.

most of the guys are from the caribbean and let me tell you they just stand around talking getting their hourly wage. please listen to these reviews this place is really bad.

SOOOO SLOOOOW. This place is like you're at a slug race and the slugs are all communist. People really move like they don't have a care in the world. Do your best to go to a mom and pop store where there is incentive to be be efficient and do good quality. I live nearby is the reason I came probably wont come back again for service.

terrible. this place is terrible. the people don't care about your time or the quality of your service. they will make you wait for hours and quality is suspect. I arrived 9am sharp (it opens at 9) but it took 3 hours to get a patch on my tire and i was the first in line. Really unbelievable. Do not come here unless you have no job or don't go to school and you have many hours to wait for bad care and service. Probably best to leave brooklyn for service. People have no pride in their work. Good luck.

How's Pep Boys Service? Read and Decide. I'll just explain what happened and let the readers make the decision...

I decided it was time for a maintenance check. I took the car to Pep Boys with no specific or identified issues and they assessed that I needed a tune up and my tires changed. I decided to mull over their recommendations and drove the car back home 0.8 miles away.

I returned the following week to just have the tires changed. Again, there were no specific issues with driving the car. When leaving the Pep Boys lot after ONLY having the tires changed, the check engine light came on and the engine started sounding differently. I literally drove 0.3 miles after leaving Pep Boys.

In total, I drove 1.9 miles between the time of the Pep Boys assessment and the time the engine light came on WITHOUT HAVING ANY PREVIOUS ISSUES with driving the car. Pep Boys says it was a coincidence that the check engine light came on immediately after driving off its lot.
