The Scene – Teddy's dates back to the turn of the century, when loft spaces were still factories and nary a pair of math rocker glasses could be found on the streets. Outside, cheerful tin lanterns hang underneath the awnings, illuminating summer's outdoor drinkers. A step inside finds all the trimmings: A sturdy wooden bar filled with budding hipsters and old guys sitting side by side, an intricate pressed-tin ceiling and light fixtures older than your grandma. – – The Draw – The stained-glass sign outside advertises a long-gone ale--Peter Doelger's Extra Beer--but…
Became pretentious
by Lovely110
I went tonight to watch the Yankee Championship game, have some food and some beers. The game was on, but the stereo system was playing 1970's country music. I asked 3 different people if they can play the sound from the TV over the sound system and was told "we are playing music now, we don't to mess with the ambiance of the diners". This was the answer I got from the female owner, and the bartender.
Mind you the sound is only played at the bar, not the dining area.
Everyone calls this place a neighborhood bar, buts it's not. It's pretentious to say the least. I stayed anyway because the game started, oh and the food was nothing to be desired. (i had the steak)
I mean, it's the ALCS NY Yankees, this still is new york city isn't it?? I'm sorry I wasted my time to go there.
- Pros: Not to crowded
- Cons: Apparently the customre is always wrong
Best place in Williamsburg
by foody151
This place still..too this very day..has the greatest plate of cheesy nachos and wings around..Beer is still under 6 bucks..the waitstaff is always fun and the burgers ....wow..amazing...They always have great wines...good wines and not to expensive..so many restaurants are here in Williamsburg that are so awful..filled with annoying trust funders...this place stays true..We don't go out as much as we used to..but if we are going to keep one place that we will go to..Teddy's is IT....
- Pros: food and beer
- Cons: only 2 bathrooms
