Great service, great food and a very homey atmosphere... also the prices are amazing. It's probably actually cheaper than cooking yourself! I recommend the angle hair pasta and shrimp dish... really tasty.
- Pros: Food, Price, Atmosphere
- Cons: None
Good service - poor food

Carmine's, up the street on Graham was closed for vacation. Ok, we tried La Locanda again. What a pity.
The service here is very good. The staff most accomodating and friendly. A nice setting - even if a little sterile. But the food !!!
Started with the Calamari. Not horrible, but tasting very much of the frying oil. A little fresh lemon helps.
Main courses: Penne a la vodka, not bad. Pasta properly done. Nice, light, pink sauce.
Eggplant parmesan : a dish of mush. So overly cooked it was nothing but a plate of melted cheese over a tatseless eggplant. Wort of all; Chicken Saltimboca ( and this on their specialty list). First, the layering is all wrong. The put the spinach on the bottom, the eggplant in the middle and the heavy chicken on top. CHEF - reverse the order. Then, as with the Eggplant Parmesan, it was so overcooked it was like eating pre-digested food. The spinach was so boiled away it was flavorless and textureless, likewise with the layer of eggplant. The chicken on top, slathered with some white substance that was supposed to be Asiago, was as though it had been steamed or boiled. The ensemble was swimming in a pool of a light sauce. Cut back on the sauce. Use a good cheese, but use it sparingly. Lightly blanch and then sautee the spinach. Grill the eggplant to keep it crisp. Arrange the elements in order of weight" chicken on the bottom, the eggplant, then spinach - substantial and green. And use the sauce sparingly.
You have a great location a nice place, but your kitchen needs help.
Also in your favor: good prices and nice portions.
- Pros: good service, good price, nice portions
- Cons: poorly prepared food. Overcooked to the point of tastlessness
