Great service and food. When asked the waiter had excellent suggestions. The fried zucchini could not have been better, nor the eggplant. The service was attentive withouth 'hovering." I would recommend without question for an informal, good Italian meal, or a special event!
Classic atmosphere, great food & service. I recently arranged a group office lunch (about 15 people) at Bamonte's, a familiar restaurant of mine. We came over from midtown Manhattan and the group was a diverse one, most never heard of the place. When they left they would never forget it and said it was well worth the trip. Bamonte's has been around for over 100 years. They give you a reasonable price fix menus for groups (a choice of three). The price fix menu was excellent, as some have said, just like home. The sauces - whether on pasta, seafood, pork, veal or whatever - are great. The service... excellent! It does have that back home Italian-American atmosphere that is slowly disappearing. I've also been there a few times with groups of four or eight and the regular menu is wonderful. In a world of Olive Gardens and designer restaurants, visit this classic.
WAY Overpriced and food is horrible!!!!. My family and I ate at this restaurant tonight. The food is terrible and overpriced. The chicken scarparella was more like chicken francese and the calamari was undercooked. The appetizers were the worst. The decor is outdated and the service was poor. Save your money, go somewhere else.

I ordered a pasta of the day that was supposed to include sun dried tomatoes, shrimp, portabella mushrooms, etc- what I got was a bowl of plain pasta in bland vegetable broth with a few fresh tomatoes and wild broccoli. I alerted my waiter to the missing shrimp and when I received my dish again it the same bowl of pasta (now cold) with five shrimp piled on top. For nineteen dollars I expect so much more. My friends were similarly disappointed by their meals. This was by far one of the worst meals I have had in a long time.
old school italian resturant amazing food. i've been going here for 20 yrs..since i was little. I love this restaurant, you feel like your at home with your family. mario is the best waiter, such a nice man and always on point. great pasta, mussels, calamari, eggplant parm, veal, fish i'd recommend everything on the menu. it's always a pleasure! and have a bacci ball (tartufo) for dessert!
Fantastic old school Italian!. I've lived in W'burg all my life and have heard amazing things about this place but never could find it. Well, the inlaws were in town over the holidays and we finally found it! They were great at accomodating a party of 16! Service was top notch (friendly and accomodating), food was FABULOUS and the ambiance and decor...well you only see this original, old school style in old movies. Let me not forget to mention the bill...UNBELIEVEABLE, i thought they made a mistake, it was much less than we had expected to spend. The only thing that was missing was Laura's cheesecake. :0) It's worth making the circles to figure out you can't get in on Union and it's only a half a blcok away from the Catholic school.

Bamonte's has been family owned and operated since the early 1900s when the Bamonte family immigrated to New York from Nola, Italy. Beautiful antique details inside the restaurant match the old school vibe, with longtime locals crowding the bar every night of the week. The food is classic Italian-American fare: Think veal cutlets, red sauce and mussels. One crowd favorite is the linguini with crab sauce, which you can watch being made in the restaurant's bright, glassed-in kitchen.

It's on a little street that might be tough to find for some, but this place is worth the extra trouble or the argument with the cab driver. A slice of family life at the table. Bamonte's is not a place to go if you are on a diet. Many of the wait staff are very old school and have been there for a long time. They have the team approach to waitering; they'll all take care of you.
There is one long rectangular room which is the one and only dining room. The kitchen is in the rear and the windows let you see much of the action in the kitchen. The decor is the era before lighting designers hushed a room with their trade.
Don't order the steak; go somewhere else for that. Order something red sauce; that's what you come here for. Enjoy!
The food is just like Aunt Jo's at Christmas. The Best Restuarant I know in Brooklyn. The food is great and the service is top notch, from the guy that watches the parking lot to the waiters.
