Fresh Tasting Beer, What tour are they talking about?. I used to go to Brewpubs all the time when I lived in Atlanta, so I thought I would try the Brooklyn Brewery out. It's smaller than I'm used to in brew houses, but in the middle of nowhere Brooklyn - expected, since they need a big warehouse to do the job. A quick walk from the subway. The beer is fresh and very good, but the prices have picked up since the last time I checked on the place - $4/beer or $20/6 beers - not bad compared to what you'll pay at bars. Good people to meet and greet with. The tour was, however, well below par. The girl giving it could barely be heard as she giggled her way through her very-had-to-hear speech. No offense to the ladies, being one myself, but in a room that echoes, a guy (or woman) with a deep voice should be the one talking. Also there was no tour. We stood in one room the entire time. People started to leave halfway through. It was all about the founding of the company and the initial founder and the real estate of the building...boringgg. I would have loved to hear more about their seasonal brews, the brewing process and their history, not how they moved from NY to Brooklyn due to a crisis in real estate. Compared to what I'm used to - average to below average brewpub experience, very good beer.

Sample fresh suds at the king of Brooklyn brewing.. In Short
In a neighborhood that once housed a pre-Prohibition "Brewers Row," this big-name beer company founded in 1987 does right by its craft and community. Friday nights, the brewery opens up its 200-seat tasting room for happy hour, pouring Brooklyn Lager, Pilsner and up to 8 other varieties, including such seasonal brews as Blanche De Brooklyn. On Saturday's free tours, visitors learn about the company, walk through the brewhouse and can purchase $3 beers.

Tour - ?. The Brooklyn Brewery claims to offer a tour - its really a thirty five minute speech about their founding, not much info on the beer itself. The beer does taste good.

Reminds me of NW. The Brooklyn Brewery was a nice surprise in Williamsburg. The atmosphere is similar to that of breweries in the Pacific Northwest, with a big communal room and plenty of young couples with kids and dogs. Definitely a departure from the too-hip scene across the river. The beer was not up to par with other micros. The people who work here are all nice folks. Buy some merchandise while you're there.
