HOW DARE YOU!. To the owner/manger! You acted like a complete jerk and made a$$ out of yourself!

Do yourself a favor and get an idiots guide to restaurant management. There should be a chapter on business etiquette and customer service. Read them a few times . This way when your ego gets out of control and your embarrassing your guest for your own mistake( Like giving someone a overly rare fillet Mignon when they had asked for it medium rare and then sending it back well done) you have something to refer back to in reference to handling this kind of situation!

Do not come over to a table while we are trying to eat what ever is edible and start praising (your exact words) your KITCHEN. When i know exactly who's in there . Judging by your waiters! You embarrassed me and my friend ! You Insulted our intelligence; and have no regards for ruining my dinning experience. Did it ever occur to you as a restaurant owner that people like to eat their meals at the same time. I'm not even going to get into details about the lack of taste and quality in your dishes. This review is to help you acknowledge your sour attitude.

Ironically, On the way there, i ran into a friend and she told me not to eat at your restaurant. That she had a very bad experience with the OWNER. She said she was displeased with your attitude; and your oysters that you refused to take back !!! I understand your restaurant is in Brooklyn. However Not everyone is looking for a freebie!! Get some manners!!!! Good luck!

ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE. ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE!

NOTE TO THE MALE MANAGER/OWNER of ELIA:

If you're going to charge up to $36 for an entree, you are considered a FINE DINING restaurant, and should thus exercise the protocol that all other fine dining restaurants in New York City do. Just because you're located in the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, does not mean you can show your true colors, that of a low class Brooklynite with no charm or etiquette.

NOTE TO THE WAITERS at ELIA:

It should be common knowledge (BUT OFCOURSE THERE IS NO WAY THE OWNER TAUGHT YOU THIS) that the women at the table should be served FIRST.

You should also know a little more about the wine you serve other than, "Yeah it's good," or "It's fruity and nice with a good bouquet."

You should not interrupt someone who is stating their food choice to ask the man you assume is paying if you got his order right.

When you are asked to recite the specials you should not say, "Maybe we should wait for your father so I don't have to repeat myself later."

We happened to patronize this restaurant very often, almost biweekly, and when we walked in one night, the restaurant was half empty.

Not only were we not greeted by the male owner, but when we asked if we could be seated, he pointed to the worst table in the restaurant, by the bar and the cold draft at the door. Seeing as how there were many tables available, we asked if we could have a more desirable table in the back. When we said, "That table's kind of in the middle of everything," he replied, "No it's not," and walked to the bar.



The food at ELIA is very good, but how good can you consider the food if the MANAGER/OWNER is so rude you almost choke on it??

Their Brazino is very good, and so are their appetizers, especially the grilled octopus, BUT there ARE MANY AMAZING GREEK RESTAURANTS IN NEW YORK CITY, WHERE YOU WON'T BE LEFT WONDERING WHY YOU'RE PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG FOR TERRIBLE SERVICE.

It's haven!. It was my first time but wont be the last.

Thank g-d they have valet parking, everything was perfect.

Avoid if you are looking for traditional Greek food.. The first time I was in the area, I found a Greek-American and asked where the best Greek restaurant was, and I was enthusiastically directed to Elia. The place looked much more upscale than the Greek restaurants in Astoria, and that should have been my first hint. The second hint was the menu which seemed sort of Greek, but not quite - i.e. you would not find such a menu in an average restaurant in Greece, only in some expensive, pretentious places... Oh, wait, that is an accurate description of this place as well :) So my "lamb ravioli" (not a traditional Greek dish, although we Greeks do like lamb and ravioli is not unknown to us), consisted of 5 little raviolis, filed with some trace amounts of lamb. My wife started laughing nervously, she knew well that while neither of us is overweight, we would each need about 4-5x the portion to start getting "filled" fortunately her plate was a bit more full (I forget what she ordered), but still little and unremarkable.

So, if you enjoy the "pay a lot for tiny portions that are nicely presented on the plate" kind of restaurant (yes, you know who you are), this might be a good place for you. If, on the other hand, you' d rather eat, go somewhere else. If you are looking for Greek restaurants close by there is Yannis, which is also not very traditional Greek (it specializes in sandwiches) but has very good food, and then there is Agnanti which is traditional Greek, but it is not as good as some Greek restaurants in Astoria (still not bad though).

Oh, about how good my ravioli was, I can't really comment. I just had a taste ;)

Greece meets Bay Ridge!. If you haven't stoppeb by already, this place should not be missed. The food and wine selection is superb and the chef brings it all together each and every time. The Waitstaff and Management take pride in delivering quality. The dishes are delicately prepared, the chef's attention poured cleverly into each dish to make it special. The fish is skillfully prepared and trust me, you will walk away satisfied. Enjoy!
