I absolutely cannot get service here.. The first time I went to Skinflint's, they told me I would be seated in "a few minutes" then left me standing in the bar until I almost literally passed out from hunger.

The second time they seated me promptly, then completely ignored me. No one even offered to bring me a drink. I felt a black woman trying to eat at a white restaurant in 1950s Georgia.

There will be no third time. Far too many good restaurants in NYC to waste my time a place that treat its customers poorly.

Cozy comfort. When dining here, you forget you're in a "pub." It is comfortable and dark. Great menu. sandwiches, ribs, appetizers, chicken potpie all delicious. The only thing on the menu I didn't like was the French onion soup. It has a lighter broth and just wasn't what Im used to. Anyway, overall great place and they have a lovely outdoor dining area with a fountain as well. Service can be a little slow on the weekends.

This is one of the best places in Bay Ridge.. The food is awesome in a comfort food kinda way. From the creamy to die for mashed potatoes to the amazing spare ribs to the entrees which are never too complicated but always hearty. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are fun and friendly. The crowd is always diverse and the music is usually good. Its the kind of place a single girl can hang out without feeling vulnerable! Check it out!

Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere.... I have been going to Skinflints for over 15 years.. Staff is great, friendly and makes you feel very welcome. Very good burgers and ribs as well as everything on the menu. They also have a great Sunday brunch.

A must go and check it out ...Highly recommended..

Friendly, cozy, good food, reasonable prices. Skinflints has been a successful bar/ restaurant for 30+ years, so that alone should tell you that it is a place worth trying. The staff are friendly and attentive, the decor is quaint, the food is just plain good and reasonably priced. There is nothing fancy about Skinflints, it is simply a cozy establishment with a wonderful atmosphere. Having been a patron there since it's opening, I highly recommend it to all.

FAR FROM CHEERIE. I've been stopping in for a Burger/Beer a few times a year for the past 15 years when I visit my sister who moved around the block from the place. The look and ambiance is nice, it has an old world style bar. The beer is fresh and the burgers are average but not great. I suppose it?s slightly better than a standard Diner burger, although some Diners have much better burgers. The burger comes in an English Muffin bun that?s ok but it's a matter of preference, it can be a little too greasy. I?ve known the place for a while and have seen a general decline over time. In the past some nice local women would come in, but for some reason they stopped coming around years ago. The nice feeling the ambiance gave you quickly changes when you settle in and try to get service. It is generally not a friendly place, unless you're maybe one of the 15 or so local regulars who live around the bar. The place is very cliquish and is reduced to mostly unhappy disability collecting ex-civil servant/union worker types. Be prepared to be ignored for a while even when they?re not busy. The staff is usually caught up in important conversation or suffering from ADD so don't expect much and you?ll be fine, they will eventually get to you. If you wanted to show an out-of-town friend what Bayridge was like and took them here you?d be doing a disservice to the people here and to your friend. Not recommended and not what it used to be.

nothing special. the service is cold ,brusque, unfriendly and too clicky. the burger was just average, the fries boring and warmed over ! the value dosen't measure up. maybe it was better in the 90's. NOT RECOMMENDED

Better than Cheers!. "...where everybody knows your name..." This is the "Cheers" of Bay Ridge, only better. Super friendly neighboorhood atmosphere where even a lady can go alone and have a drink and feel comfortable. Bartenders are great (especially John) and fast! Excellent bar food and the burgers are some of the best in all of NYC! Real reasonable prices, wait staff friendly and attentive. Wonderful, cozy decor with music just at the right volume. Great place to watch a game, hang out, eat, relax and meet other Bay Ridgers!

Great Decor Great Food. One of the best things that I like about Skinflints is the decor. Its has real cozy "old world" feel. There are many antiques, statues and great paintings. I particularly like the 4 "monkey lamps" on the bar. Skinflints is a great place for having a few drinks, eating at the bar, or sitting at a table. In the summer time they even have outdoor seating. I highly recommend however on the weekends be prepared to wait to be seated . Rumor has it that Jerry Garcia played at skinflints back inthe 1960's when it was a biker bar.
