Today, Sept 10, 2008, while going to work from Manhattan into Hoboken, NJ, I took Downing Street to get from 6th Ave to Varick St to get to the Holland Tunnel. One of these shuttles stood in my way for TEN MINUTES while waiting for a passenger. The driver even got out of the shuttle and looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. It wasn't until a school bus came behind me that the shuttle driver parked the vehicle. Why couldn't he do that when it was just me behind him? I called the dispatch office to complain and was put on hold. I held on for THREE MINUTES and then hung up hoping to find the company's web site to write a complaint. The vehicle number was 43140 and this happened at 8:20am. Since I was put on hold by a dispatch office that didn't want to deal with the complaint, I can only imagine that any complaint to management or the corporate office will just be put aside. What ever happened to courtesy, respect and just plain manners? What are the hiring practices of this company? How are the employees trained? Not only did the driver get out to shrug his shoulders as if to say, "Oh well, you have to wait." But a female associate got off the shuttle with a walker and stood on the sidewalk with it to wait for the person they were picking up to come. The female associate could have been courteous enough to ask the driver to park or drive around. There was hardly any traffic at that time going towards the Holland Tunnel nor was there a lot of traffic on 6th Ave. He could have gotten around fairly quick. I'm certainly glad that the school bus came up behind me. It was my release from being captive by this shuttle service. I did not dare to get out of my car. The driver already had an attitude, that would have made the situation worse. In companies with good customer service standards this would not be acceptable. Perhaps the employees on this shuttle need a refresher training.
