DISGUSTING!. I have ordered twice from Five Spot..the first time it was ok, but my chicken was a little under-cooked, and the mac n' cheese was dry. The second time it was not any better. All of the food seemed like it was made two days prior and sat under a heat lamp. The banana pudding was also old and artificial tasting. Don't waste your money or time.

When I'm in the mood for soul.... I stay the hell away from the Five Spot! When it first opened up I was psyched. The only other place around was Ruthies and though okay, it wasnt all that great. I have eaten there on and off but after the last three times of undercooked BLOODY chicken thigh, hard crusty mac and cheese, sour bitter watery collard greens and a stale velvet cake...forget it..no more chance :o( There's an OUTSTANDING soul food restaurant on Atlantic, right off of Court that though out of the way is well worth it! Stay away from the Five Spot if your looking to fill that particular hankerin...

Go For The Drinks And Music. I know what Soul Food is supposed to taste like and sorry Five Spot, but you don't make the cut. How do you mess up french fries? You don't bring out a plate of brown twice-fried french fries. Don't they watch Kitchen Nightmares?

I agree about the too-sweet BBQ sauce, the fish was ok but a tad over cooked. The only bright spot are the drinks and general bar atmosphere. I'll go back for that, but get your food someplace else.

great bar to relax and unwind with real people. i loved the place. i went after work with a friend. we both loved the happy hour drinks, all drinks were $2 off until 7. the cocktail menu was interesting with a bunch of new mixtures i never would have thought of. try the hypnotini or the flavored martiini's. we just ordered appetizers, a sampler that had a mix of seafood and some calamari. bottom line the food was good. the staff was friendly and we felt like we made some new friends.

Food/drinks/prices. The first time I went I was alone I ordered a sampler that had some wings fish and shrimp, I was very pleased with the portion and the taste. I had a couple of shots of patron and a few drinks. Ileft the place with a full belly a doggy bag and tippsy. For valantines day my wife and I went to atlantic city we got back to BK and stopped in she remembered the doggy bag I brang home that night and wanted to go she was not too sure about the place. Igot her in, we got a table and ordered. My boo is the biggest bargain hunter you have ever met, she is a rel penny pincher and she was pleased with the prices we both enjoyed the food and the music we just wissed the live show but the dj was good. My wife had the hypnotini and I had a quickie and a triple five fool niiice.GO IF YOU CAN. I invited my cousin and wife to cmome with us one weekend. See u there.
