Look Elsewhere – Brought a couple of shirts here to be altered. They were far too tight and the proportions totally off. Moreover, he made alterations that I didn't even ask for, presumably because something got lost in translation. (Neither the owner nor his wife speak English well.) The alteration I asked for was very simple, but the shirts came back totally ruined. I brought them back, tried them on and looked like a disfigured cartoon character, yet he looked at me as if they fit like gloves. I pointed, overenunciated, grunted to help him understand the problem, all to no avail. My frustration couldn't have been more obvious, yet he chuckled and tried to give me a fond farewell on the way out. These guys only take debit cards and cash, so I couldn't dispute the charge. Furious! There are better options in the neighborhood, all within a couple of blocks.
Don't Go Here – This guy should not be in the business of altering clothes, certainly not expensive suits.
I took a $1k Bloomy suit here and he has nearly ruined the pants.
I asked him to take in the pants. He said $70 and 5 days - didn't even want to see me try them on!
After insisting that he measure/mark the pants, I put them on, he looked, put in 2-3 pins and took the pants.
A week later - they're too tight. So I asked him to loosen them. He wanted another $40 and 5 more days. After 5 more days, I go back and there's no way he touched a single stitch, they were just as tight as when he first altered them.
He insisted that he had loosened them, but when I turned them out to look at the stitching, there was no extra material for him to have let out - he cut it all off (which I asked him not to do when I dropped the pants off initially)! And, no sign that he had re-sown the fabric.
Now, I have to lose about 10 pounds before I can wear these pants - he can't let them out because there is no more material!
Don't take your alterations here - the guy is arrogant, doesn't respond to what you're saying and when he's heard enough, he puts on this "no speak english" routine.
Very expensive, very poor ability and horrendous customer skills.
STAY AWAY – I live in the neighborhood and have seen this place a thousand times, so I came here to have a suit jacket altered. I went in on a Monday I told him I needed it by Thursday, as I was leaving for a wedding Friday afternoon. He took my measurements, gave me the hefty fee, and said it would be ready Thursday.
Came back Thursday, it was not ready, had to come back Friday morning before my flight to pick it up. I tried it on, and the shoulders had not been taken in, and were still much too wide.
Obviously it was too late to do anything about before the wedding, so after an embarrassing weekend I went back the following Monday to have it re-altered, and he told me it would be an additional $150 dollars to the already exorbitant fee in order to take in the shoulders.
After much pointless disputing - pointless because he couldn't understand what I was saying - I left, utterly dissatisfied. Do. Not. Go.
They do not speak english . . . . I took my fabric belt in to be made smaller and the woman, whom I believe is the wife, took it, I had to show her what to do and how to do it, and then she took my money and told me to come back a week later; when I came back nothing had been done and the owner, the husband was there who told me to come back on a tuesday when someone was there who spoke english. When I came back the woman understood what I wanted and I was told to come back a week later which I did; At that point the belt was still way too large and they had done it all wrong; they took my measurements yet again and told to to come back a week later; when I finally was there to pick up the belt it still was way too big . . . and I showed them where the mark was on the belt which they obviously had ignored; come back a few days later again . . . I was pretty upset by then; when I then came back for the 5th time the belt still didn't fit and the owner just threw a $ 20 bill at me and gave me my belt which now was altered and didn't fit at all anymore at me; needless to say I will never go there again; I hope you won't either; I also inbetween once went there to have my king size pillow cases cut down to standard size and they wanted to charge $ 25 per pillow case! I took them back and at another place I was charged $ 10 per case. They are a total rip-off place! No english, poor quality and totally overpriced!
Terrible – Despite a serious language barrier (proprietors speak little to no English), a very nice man, and, I think, his wife. However, it is clear he has no real training as a pro tailor. Perhaps ok for basic hemming and/or stitching repairs; but, not to be trusted with alterations of any significance -- after 3 visits, 1 month, and $60 in fees, he was thoroughly unable to alter a simple brooks brothers blazer. After much exasperation, I took the jacket back, walked down the street, and had the necessary alternations completed (expertly) while I waited for 30 min. Avoid.
