“(He was willing to bargain a bit for the price of 2 expensive frames, give it a try).”
I didn't particularly like this place, it wasn't inviting and to make matters worse have messed up my artwork. I had four frames done with these people before I stopped coming to them waited for another framer to open up a gallery and decided to him instead can't do business with people who don't respect my artwork.
lousy quality frames and vastly expensive. I honestly did not like the quality of frames this guy uses and charges lots of money almost spent close to a thousand for one music poster, changed my mind and decided to go down the street where I got a better deal and more polite service.
intollerable framer and not friendly. I took three pieces of art to get framed by him a very long time ago and it came out really horrid it wasn't even dry mounted first just framed with a few piece of card board in back of the pics.I asked him where are the materials? He had a attitude about it wont come back here again it has been a very long time since I have dealt with this guy and I intend to keep it that way.
Montague damaging art!. This is one of the most intolerable framing store I have ever been to. The owner is not friendly and doesn't say hello when you walk in and if you want something you half to approach him, no atmosphere in here. It cost me an exorbitant amount to get only two pictures framed. They don't dry mount the stuff and they don't use acid free foam boards, they choose to just put a piece of cardboard and that is about it. Iam surprised they have stayed open this long they must have a good lease cant think of any other reason. I had my stuff re-framed to the other framer down the street on top of pearl vision he does a better job and is a friendly kind of guy, will not set foot in Montague damaged art again.
there are other fish in the sea..
I always give a store two chances before I stop going to them. I went to get a picture framed and not only was it expensive but the material was atrocious, you don't put a piece of card board from a box in back of a pic and not put something in back so I could be able to hang up the piece.
I will not go to these people again the young man who was there was rude and unprofessional and doesn't smile. I would highly recommend Daphne art on Montague
Street. I began to bring all my work there the guy who runs the place is friendly and shows you the materials he will use and they the stuff used to frame is much better.
Could Have Done A Better Job Myself.
I had a terrible experience with this place and suggest you try another framing shop if you care about the quality of the work.
I brought in a wedding photo, enlarged to 54" to be framed. Nothing fancy – just wanted the print dry mounted with a black wood frame and white matte board. The price quoted was $350. Dropped off the print on a Tuesday (with a $100 deposit) and was told it would be ready on Thursday of the following week (9 days later.) I called on Thursday and was told they needed more time and to come in on Saturday.
When I saw the finished piece I was horrified. All four of the matte board corners were either over-cut or jagged. It was extremely poor work. Secondly, the matte board they used was not the white board I selected but a cheaper-quality off-white board. So I told them to do it over. "No problem... come back next week." Well, that turned into another 10 days. I went back last night to pick it up and while the cuts were much better, they still used the wrong board! When I complained, they insisted the board was white. Um... I'm not blind. It's not white.
On top of all this, the staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. There are plenty of other places to take your business in the neighborhood.
great work, I take all of my work to this guy. I have taken many pieces to Montague Arts to be framed. One was a difficult matting job with glass and mats on the front and back and it was handled perfectly. I just picked up 2 more pieces, with double mats, and the job was, again, done very professionally. I've never encountered an attitude problem or any rudeness. I know what I want, and try many combinations of frame and mats, until I am satisfied. But I've always gotten back high-quality work from Montague Arts, and will continue to use them. (He was willing to bargain a bit for the price of 2 expensive frames, give it a try).
Montague Arts will leave you disappointed and offended.. The owner of Montague Arts Framing and Prints (138 Montague Street) is arrogant, condescending, and demeaning to women. His customer service skills are remedial and his prices are excessively high. If you need to buy a print or have something framed, I recommend Jubilee Gallery at 117 Henry Street or Daphne Art at 154 Montague Street. Both establishments have professional service and reasonable prices.
work of failure instead of art. I dropped off a few pictures to get framed at this shop recently. We went over everything and it seems like they were in such a hurry to get everything done. the price was really over the top five hundred for both pictures. They also went out of their way to be rude and say this is our price too bad. A week later i went to pick up my pictures and noticed that they had cardboard in back of the frames, asked for quality framing the frames were also too weak they fell after a week. I would never do business with them again.
