Tips for Seaport Flowers

Amy was incredible, and so were the flowers. We were married on New Years eve, and were referred to Amy by another highly recommended/rated florist in the area because that had refused to do our wedding due to the date / availability of flowers.

Amy was not only willing to take us on, she never complained and just always seemed excited to be a part of our wedding. She put together amazing arrangements, and got us flowers that were very difficult to find at that time of year. She arrived right on time, and went out of her way to meet our needs.

All of our guests commented on how beautiful the flowers were, and the arrangements for our family members really made them feel loved and important.

We would highly recommend Amy and Seaport to anyone, and couldn't have been any happier with her.

The BEST. I was beyond impressed with the service I got here! A lot of other high-end florists won't do delivery arrangements for under $75-100; their delivery minimum is $50. (The $50 arrangements are GORG, NOT skimpy like other places)

I often order from them because the owner Amy is very flexible and always accommodates her customers. I usually run in for $30 gift- bouquets and have always been pleased with the results.

The store is always filled with unusual and beautiful, fresh flowers. If you're looking for quality and exotic cut flowers- this is the place to go.

P.S. I think they now sell vintage furniture, lamps as well as floral prints. Some really neat, unique pieces

The store has changed to 309 Henry St. in Brooklyn Heights.

Disappointing.. When you spend $125 on an arrangement it should blow your socks off, not just make you shrug your shoulders like, "Eh, okay."

Amy Took Ordinary To Extraordinary. My daughter was married two weeks ago, and the wedding co-ordinator that she contracted with, was little or no help to us. I live outside of NY and my daughter regularly works 60 hour weeks. So we didn't have a lot of time or help pulling this wedding together in a 6 mo. period.

We talked to several other florists, who either had terrible people skills, bare and uninteresting shops, or who told us that you can't get non-dyed blues and greens in flowers in early November. To top it off, I wanted glamour and my daughter wanted walk-in-the-woods natural.

The first time I talked to Amy, I asked her if she could make both my daughter and me, with our different styles, happy. And she did, more than we even dreamed.

Seaport Flowers and their vision, originality, creativity, and cost saving suggestions, made what would have been an ordinary wedding, spectacular. Amy told me good websites to shop on-line to save some money. She gave me details of how many and what size candles we needed, (we used hundreds.) and made wonderful suggestion on aisle decorations that we could do. If it weren't for her I wouldn't have known to buy only 6+ hr candles. She instilled complete confidence that she could create our vision. She is highly verbal in painting a picture of what she has in mind, and she is so enthusiastic and confident that you come away feeling so much calmer because you know someone "gets" it.

Amy stepped in at the last minute with an extra corsage, and decorated the wedding cake one hour before the wedding with gorgeous flowers when the bride forgot to get a wedding topper . Her designs were so creative, with texture and color, and yet kept our budget in mind.

I only wish that I could clone Amy and Seaport Flowers and make her a wedding planner. She could pull off any challenge, and do it with a smile.

The ultimate in poor customer service!. I received a floral arrangement that cost well over $100 from Seaport Flowers. It was completely dead within four days. Completely. When I called to voice my complaint I spoke with Amy (when she finally agreed to get on the phone). She was quite cavalier about the situation and just kept repeating: "this is standard, they usually live three to five days." I've received many floral arrangements in the past (mostly from Blue Water Flowers) and that is far from the truth. And why make arrangements using flowers (such as lilacs) which die so quickly? I live in the Heights, as does the individual who sent me the arrangement and many of my co-workers. Word of mouth is critical for a neighborhood business and, unfortunately, I have nothing but unkind words for Seaport Flowers and their so-called customer service.

Buyer Beware. In general, this shop is fantastic. Beautiful arrangements, great service and even dog-friendly. So, what's not to like? I'll tell you: I hired them to do the flowers for my wedding and specified very clearly exactly what I wanted for my bouquet. I wrote it down and even brought them a bouquet to show them so there would not be any confusion. But, the owner, Amy Gardella, insisted that I could not have ivy in my bouquet because she said it would wilt. I said I did not care, that it had special meaning and personal value to me and to please include it. Come the day of my wedding: there was no ivy in my bouquet and there was of course, no time to get any. I had planned for it to be trailing down the front of my gown and it would have perfectly matched the hand-sewn embroidery on the bodice. Of course, the people at Seaport Flowers knew nothing of the dress or the embroidery or the many, many hours it took to create it. They just did their own thing according to what they believed was best. It was very sad and disappointing to me that they lacked the sensitivity to honor our agreement for a once-in-a-lifetime event that they were paid very well to do.

They do fine centerpieces but, for anything more important, I would never use them again.

Fantastic Florist. We used Seaport Flowers for our wedding. The arrangements were absolutely breathtaking! I highly recommend them. Another great florist in the neighborhood is Opalia Flowers on Atlantic Avenue.
