Terrible Service - ruins the experience – Totally agreed about the service from earlier posts. I live in the neighborhood and like the last reviewer wanted to love this bar - I was all set to enjoy my neighborhood watering hole...but the extremely rude bartender ruined it. I was there for the last time last night and was essentially insulted for asking for a pen.
There is one wonderful bartender Pete - but I will only go if he's there and he seems a bit over worked - so tough to tell if he's going to be in a good mood. But all in all a great guy who creates a nice atmosphere.
It's very disappointing because this bar has so much potential - but I'm no longer taking friends or visitors it's just frustrating every time.
All in all if you want a good beer - and they do have a nice selection but don't mind the rude service this is your spot ...because it does have a nice atmosphere...
Heartbroken - Solid Local Bar; consistently poor service – Many of us dream of having our own local pub, like in the one in the old tv show, Cheers. Henry Street Ale House was that place for me, my husband and many of our friends. For many years we suffered through one insult after another by their wait staff (which changes often) because hey - the food was good and the beer was great. (A very good selection for a small bar.) BUT - on two occasions they just went too far - once the waitress picked an argument with my pregnant friend, and on another occasion the bartender picked a fight with my dad (who was not drinking) for no apparent reason. I desperately want to love this place - it's dark, cozy, and a real neighborhood place - but I just wish they would start over and get great staff. I am not asking for four star service - just a place where I can drink with friends and relatives without worrying about whether they will pick a fight with us. Please, please improve your service!!
Great neighborhood pub – This is a cozy place to meet friends. I've always managed to get a table and the service is good. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the large beer menu. They've always got something new for me to try.
Great Food Poor Service – The food is excellent, but the service not so much.....Two times I have been in there I have had trouble with credit card transactions....
Still the best place for booze – The best place for fun times with fun cocktails. I really am glad your still the hot spot for locals
still the place to dump your money for a good drink of beer – Fun burgers great atmoshpere cool staff. These guys appreciate your money . May not have the best cocktails but they do try to accommodate what ya want. from dinner to drinks they treat you well.
great bar atmosphere. fun people fun crowd not stufty – fun place for the common cocktail. food is good and people a really nice. Old world charm, with a younger crowd. try the burgers they go down well
fun beers and burgers – A fun local place where you can let your hair down. consistant food. avery boozie drinks but very nice beer. good staff that make you feel welcome. Always a place to go when all else fails. try them out. and not too expensive
Great Beer selection... – Great beer selection, food & service is just ok. Better in the summer time a little dark in the back in the winter.
Its not a bad place... – Its just a plain place. Decent food, decent beer selection. Its great when its warm out and the windows are open to the street, but its a little dank in the winter.
