“Went for the Bluegrass Brunch, left respecting the fact that it really is all about location - there just are not many alternatives in DUMBO so terrible service still gets repeat customers.”
“Unfortunately, the warm apple gallette dessert was burnt on the bottom as well.”
“We order the Veggie Panini and a Cheese Plate at 10:50pm, and are working our way through our drinks.”
“The food here is fabulous and the prices are decent.”
“The wine selection was superb and the staff was very attentive (we had called ahead a few days since we would be a big group).”
“This place has become my favorite Brooklyn restaurant.”
“Great staff, great drinks and the food looked really good(I didn't have anything that night, but my friend did and said it was delicious, will def go back and try it).”
“they had only like 2 cooks and waiters/waitresses were slow.”
“food was decent, but not worth the long wait”

Dumbo Institution. If you find yourself in Dumbo, then you need to check out Superfine. Cool vibe, Great DJ's, delicious food and the only pool table in New York that is free. It also has amazing art on the walls.
The Worst.
I have been living in Dumbo for almost four years, and have been sporadically eating at Superfine for years. Sporadically because while the food is usually good, the service is awful and the food is overpriced. However it's close by and the atmosphere is great. That said I will now never go back.
Two weeks ago I reserved a table for 10 for 1:45 Sunday brunch. We had an elderly person and two babies in my party and for some reason they kept us waiting for 45 minutes for a table. The hostess, who is consistently rude every time I've ever eaten there, told me that the party at the table she reserved for me was there for over 2 hours despite the fact that they had a 1.5 hour time limit. So I said, "Well, if you have a 1.5 hour time limit then why are they still there?" She shot me a look and said "Because they got here early." Huh?? To which she then said "Anyway, I didn't make the reservation so that's why this is happening." I said, "I'm sorry, but how would that have made a difference?
She said, "Because I know who eats here and how long they take." HUH?? She shot me another awful look and walked away.
It wasnt until my father approached the manager that we finally got seated, at a table for SIX! They crammed the seats around and it was only after we ordered 4 bloody mary's that they said they were on the house. Gee, thanks.
We all ordered and when our food came it was clear to all of us that they were running out of food. Instead of telling us this they just eliminated ingredients from our order - instead of mozzarella in an omelette (as the special of the day suggested) there was cheddar. And barely any potatoes - seriously, it was like 3 slices of potato per plate. A total mess. My sister ordered the special pancakes which were with apple and currant compote. What she got were plain pancakes. She told the waiter, he took them away and in five minutes came back with the same plate with a three slices of apple on top.
I'm sorry but this was the single worst brunch experience I've ever had. With no real apologies from the staff for the wait OR the horrible food. I never complain about a thing but this was beyond. DO NOT GO.
A W E S O M E.
Love the atmosphere. Very special place.
Highly recommend.
really? It's my fault I can't get drinks or food?.
Dumbo destination Superfine is a Super-fail all the way around. Here's what happened tonight.
After attending the Absolut Brooklyn launch party, we wandered over to Superfine. Jazzed by the buzz, we wandered in. A number of seats were up for grabs, so we grabbed one. Cat, the manager (I'll state that name and title again several times), finally came up and told us that to get drinks we'd have to order at the bar. But here was the cocktail menu.
Fair enough, it's "late." I sidle up to the bar and order two Movie Stars (ginger vodka, ginger, and ginger ale -- very ginger-y). First drink completely finished. Part way through the second pour, things don't line up. I'm told there isn't enough ginger vodka and they have to "make" more. Ooohhkay. But they want to hold on to the first drink. Which is filled with small ice (which will dilute). I grab the finished drink and take it to my cohort.
At some point we're hungry and try and order food. We see amazing French Fries. No table service, so I go to the kitchen counter, only to be told it's closed for the night (now approaching 11pm --- oooohhhh so late!). We're told there's a "bar menu" and it's at our table. Only it isn't.
I return to the table and my drink finally appears. Eventually, after two or three people visit our table, the guy that told me there was a bar menu LITERALLY throws the metal menu on our table. (there's *one* vegetarian option, a multi-veggie panini. Fine. Okay.)
We order the Veggie Panini and a Cheese Plate at 10:50pm, and are working our way through our drinks. Someone unceremoniously comes up and tells us our two drinks cost $22. I hand him the money.
At 11:30 - nothing. No second drink order, no food. Meanwhile, people who sat down in tables we passed up are being served their food.
Cat (the manager) finally comes by to see if we want another drink (my cohort is in the restroom). I say, "could we have another Movie Star, but split it?"
She says, "you have to go to the bar for that, and they want to start a tab"
"Why did you ask us what we want to drink if we have to go to the bar, and why do we have to start a tab, when someone came for the bill before?" I ask.
Cat (THE MANAGER) says, "well, you could have said I prefer to order the drinks from the table." (Those are her EXACT words).
I say, "well I did say I would prefer to have French fries, over the food that hasn't come." She says "The grill's closed."
At some point (while my cohort's in the bathroom), a guy comes over and tells us that we haven't been forgotton. That the reason our mushroom panini and cheese plate are taking so long is that SOMEONE HAS TO HAND SLICE MUSHROOMS.
Cat (THE MANAGER) comes back with the one drink at the same time our veggie panini and cheese plate show up (45 minutes later). Cat (THE MANAGER) tells my cohort (en route from the bathroom) that *we* ordered late, and it didn't take that long. My cohort has text message evidence that the order took 45 minutes. Cat, THE MANAGER, is unapologectic.
In Superfine's defense, the veggie panini and cheese plate are very tasty. It could be because we're starving to death.
The same can not be said, unfortunately, for the third Movie Star cocktail, over-sweet where the other two were nicely balanced.
Superfine is apparently one long Brainfart. And for Cat (THE MANAGER) to blame us for not knowing that we could demand table service and for "waiting" to order is inexcusable. While the kitchen did an admirable job on our meager orders, the bar was inconsistent and the table service was inexcusable. Superfine is a Super FAIL.
RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. I am a local DUMBO resident and have been going to superfine for over 3 years on a regular basis. Today I called to make a reservation for brunch and enquired about high chairs - after being told one was "sort of broken" but "your the parent you can take the risk, not my probklem' i asked in what way was it broken as we used it a week ago - I was told to hurry up and make a reservation as she was really busy! I hung up furious and will vote with my feet - never to return again. A real shame that a local business fails on every front to value its local customers. I will be making sure all my neighbours most of whom have young babies and children know about this incident too.
Won't be going back. I thought this restaurant needed an updated review so I can break the bad news -- the service still stinks. Waited an hour after being seated for the food to arrive. I don't think it's a fluke. I have better things to do with my time. No thanks.
Terrible Service - Beware of Rude Bartenders. I usually go to Superfine about once a month. While the food is okay, the service is hideous. On two occasions at the bar, my husband and I were completely ignored by all three bartenders. It wasn't even too busy but they just could care less and not be bothered. They're all a bunch of rude posers. One of them was even hitting on girls while we waited for ten minutes and finally left. I will not be back to Superfine. I hope DUMBO gets a few more bars with bartenders that are cool and want to serve their customers!
love them!.
I have no idea where all of these bad reviews are coming from!!
I have been to the restaurant more times then I can even count (different days, different hours) - it is basically my default place to eat while I am in DUMBO. The service has always been really great - everyone is super friendly and the food is delicious. I love their changing menu and strongly recommend the place.
Great Food BUT Don't You Only Have a Few Minutes to Eat It.
We live in Brooklyn Heights and try to be big supporters of our neighborhood businesses. We were thrilled to stumble upon Superfine and excited to bring my in-laws to the restaurant for Sunday brunch. Equally exciting is the fact that they take brunch reservations so we were fans even before the first bite.
We got to the restaurant about 15 minutes early and were greeted by a very nice hostess wearing a very hot cashmere hat. She sat us almost immediately and things were off to a great start. Our server was a nice hipster with an infectious smile and enough enthusiasm to make him charming but not so much that we felt like we were in a theme park restaurant. We ordered, our food came, we ate and it was delicious. We ordered desert, the bill came and then the wheels came off the car!
As soon as we signed the credit card receipt (I was still drinking my coffee and we still had a bottle of water on the table) the manager (a tall thin guy with curly-ish hair) came over and told us that the next reservation was there and that we needed to get up. Can you believe that someone would be so tacky as to actually come over while we were still sitting and to say something like that. We hadn't even been there for an hour and were told to literally get up!
We communicated our frustration to the hostess and she offered some type of lame excuse about the art fair and their being busy and overbooked, blah blah blah. She also offered to buy us a round of drinks as a peace offering. NO THANKS!
I think this restaurant has a lot going for it and am glad it's around but I think the management should re-think their customer service strategy and/or get a freakin' clue. It's not rocket science, it's common sense! You don't do that. . .EVER!
Not sure we'll go back but try it. The food is good. The atmosphere is cool. The manager IS A JACK.....!
food tastes great....whack ambiance...bartender and hostess, not nice..
description said live jazz...there was a loud, live, okay, country band....I preferred the recorded music
Father's Day brunch fish tacos and french toast delicious, but not enough food on the plate for the tacos...more like a snack for a grown man
I waited at the entrance for almost 10 minutes and finally approached a bartender about my reservation and she snapped that I should go up the ramp to the hostess as if I had been there before
The hostess took several minutes to find my name and then told me it would be a while...someone made a mistake and did not hold our reservation and make room for us even though we made reservations the day before
She was borderline nasty and retorted that it wasn't her fault and told me I'd have to wait and that I should be positive
The waitress was nice, but the two nasty employees left a bad taste in my mouth
