dive bar extraordinare. I love this bar. It's spacious with plenty of seats at the bar and tables. You can't beat the happy hour prices, and it's only a short walk down to Valentino Pier to watch the sunset. There's a newish dj booth; plus there's never a cover when bands play.

One of the most original bars in NYC. Hands down one of the best and most original bars in what has become boring old-New York. This place bleeds Brooklyn and doesn't put up with fools very well. If you had a bad time there, well, then I'm guessing you don't know how to act in public. Don't be a show off or a tough guy or you'll be on your way out. You will love the decor and cheap but handsome pours. They have bands play there too and it's loud. Great place...wish there were more of theses places in Manhattan. hot chics, too. bonus!

NEVER AGAIN!!. TERRIBLE place--will never, ever go back! The bartender was arrogant and unfriendly--he was only interested in hanging out with his friends in the back, and completely ignored everyone else at the bar. I stayed for 2 beers, and both times had to wait a good 15 minutes for him to come back in from smoking out front with his friends (and even then, he repeatedly ignored me and everyone else who wasn't in his clique).

The bar is kind of cute, I guess, but it's dirty, and looks like it is trying AWFULLY hard to be kitschy and off-beat. (We get it, you're hipsters!) Do yourself a favor and go next door to the much cleaner and MUCH friendlier Brooklyn Ice House.

SUPER SLOW SERVICE. I'VE ONLY BEEN ONCE AND THAT WAS ENOUGH!!!! I WENT TO THIS EMPTY BAR WITH 8 FRIENDS AND WE ALL WAITED 20 MIN FOR A DRINK. I DON'T KNOW WHY CONSIDERING THE PLACE ONLY HAD 3 OTHER PATRONS

I WOULD NOT GO BACK

coolest bar in the world. This place makes me glad I don't live in Red Hook...if I did, I'd be sloshed at this bar EVERy night. You really can't beat the decor here - fake ducks hanging upside down off the ceiling - cool tables and chairs - a Fishing For Dummies book in the bathroom. This place just rules cause it's got style. The beer selection is great - bartenders are always sweet - strange movies play on a big TV in the corner.

red hook is off the hook. this adds to the nice commercial strip they got going on in Red Hook. Love this little alcove of a bar. Nice and dark inside, with good locals hanging out front smoking. Everyone was friendly, and had a good time here out in Red Hook when I went.

Gone Fishin'. It's worth the trip just to hear Barry, one of the owners often found behind the stick, laugh. If his Irish accent doesn't charm ya, other friendly neighborhood banter will. Your eyes never take in all the fishing and hunting objects all over the bar. Be sure to look under the bar itself, but not if you are a major animal rights activist. Those deer feet are perfect for hanging your hat on! Tuesday Trivia night is much fun!

Good beer and goldfish reel in the Red Hook regulars.. The Scene
The quaint bar overflows with "found" objects: a mermaid, strings of dangling fish, two mounted harpoons from a Long Island basement and a stuffed bear from Indiana. Strings of glowing bobbers barely light the ample space. Old-timers who remember when that tree fell in the church garden now set their drinks on its planks that serve as the bar, where they're joined by the neighborhood's younger set. The two resident dogs, Dolce and Wispa, make sure even those from outside the 'hood get a proper welcome.

The Draw
A perfectly poured pint of Guinness, topped with a four-leaf clover, is one of the best reasons to venture to Red Hook for a beer. But add to that the addicting and rather realistic Get Bass fishing game and the friendly atmosphere, and you've got a new favorite bar. The unlimited supply of goldfish and Swedish fish don't hurt, either.
