Fantastic Experience. Last Saturday, while I was working on a report that had to be submitted that night, my computer suddenly blacked out and then restarted by itself. When the computer restarted I immediately checked to see if the more than 100 pages that I had just written was still there. Before I could check an intrusuive window popped up saying that I had child porn on my system amongst other problems. I was up the river. This project had the ability to actually change the course of my life if it went through the way I wanted it to go and now I didn't even know if the project still existed. Panicked, I Googled computer repair and settled on Park Slope Computers to save me. I was greeted by the owner and told him the story, he looked me in the eye and told me what he thought was wrong with my computer, gave me a quote and told me that the computer would be ready later that day. I asked him about the file that I was working on and he said he would make it a priority to find out what became of it. A few hours later, Edward called and said that my computer was infected and the file still existed and he would be able to recover it. He emailed me the file so I could continue working on my wife's computer while he disinfected my computer and tuned it up to the point where it ran faster than it was when it was running normally. They even polished the screen and cleaned the case and keyboard of the dust and cat hair that accumulated without me asking. It was fixed and returned to me on time and at the price I was quoted. It was a great experience, great service and I was treated with respect at all times. I can't say enough! If you're reading this thanks guys! Hope to see you soon under better circumstance...
Not even 1/2 a star! HORRENDOUS is the only way beside BUFFOON to describe Ed of Park Slope Computers. I had taken my old Gateway computer to him because it had stopped working and I really needed the documents I had in this computer. It took a while but Ed said he found the documents but the computer was beyond repair. I was so grateful he was able to retrieve the documents I purchased a refurbished Dell computer from him. He downloaded the documents into the Dell. I paid him for his service and the price of the computer.
Three months later I awoke to a blue screen. I took it right back to Ed. After a week of calls he finally said he was able to identify the problem and he fixed it. I picked up the computer and he said no charge since it was within 6 months of the purchase. Wow I thought to myself what a nice guy. The next day I hooked the computer up and much to my dismay all my documents were gone. I took the computer right back to Ed. After a week or so of calls and his avoiding my calls he finally answered. He said all the documents are gone forever "BECAUSE COMPUTERS DO THAT SOMETIMES AND I CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT IS JUST THAT WAY". He said he was sorry and I could pick the computer up at any time. I said to him you mean to tell me the computer did this on its own and he said yes. That is when I realized that I was ripped off by this BUFFOON. Don Furey
Customer Service Hit and Miss.
Bad customer service. I took my desktop in to confirm that my PSU had been blown (didn't have a multimeter on hand to confirm myself). I could have easily done the repair myself in about 5 minutes, but I was told it could be fixed in an hour or so and the price was not extremely unreasonable. I got a call later that day that they had to order the part, but it would be in the next morning. That was the last call I got from them.
I have called every day since then and have been told it would be finished by the end of the day and that someone would call me back. I have not received any call backs. Today, I called a second time after I did not receive a call from them. They told me that it would be fixed by the end of the day and that they were going to stay open late so that I could pick it up. When I got there, the store was locked up (about 5 minutes before the scheduled close) and the person there refused to even come to the door so I could try to explain the situation. I have not been treated honestly by most of the staff of the company.
Update: The technician (person I dealt with initially) followed up with me to explain the reason for the delay and offered to do the repair at the cost of the parts. I declined and ordered the part to fix myself, but he seemed like an honest person that was too busy to deal with everything. I am sure he would have fixed it eventually.
Overall, if you need something fixed in a timely manner, then you should look elsewhere. Additionally, try to deal directly with the technician as he seems like a very decent person, but the same can't be said of other employees.
