Citysearch Editorial Review. With its weathered teal paint, Formica counter and vintage cooler behind the bar, Cafe Colette is almost Keith McNallyian in its atmospheric perfection, though it feels more like a charming old Southwestern cafe than the Parisian bistro it purports to be. The lazy vibe makes it a great place to while away an afternoon at the counter with the Times or camped out in one of the big red booths with a crew. The menu manages to be both limited and all over the place--among the short list of options, you'll find ribs, Chinese chicken salads, and lobster rolls--and is just passable by New York standards. That may change as the restaurant matures, but it may not even matter--Colette is pretty enough to get by on her looks.
