Brooklyn >Beauty > The Heights Salon of Brooklyn
I went to The Heights Salon today for a
single process color and a haircut.
The color was ok even if Rafael didn't really listen when i did explain what I wanted, and the color came too light.
The haircut is a total mess. I did want to cut just a little bit like one or two centimeters....
My hairdresser was totally panicked, and cut far too much asking me every 30sec if it was too short...
And YES it is too short, I came in with shoulders lenght hairs, and came out with a totally messy boy like hair cut!
A second hairdresser had to take his place to cut my hair and she was just keeping telling me "I'm sorry, but in like 6months you will be fine!"
And she not even did a good job... My hairs are sort of longer at the front and the back, shorter around the ears...
It is so short and with so many layers that I can't even go and see someone else to repair a little bit of this drama.
I do not understand why he didn't stop when he saw he failed... He was keeping cutting and cutting...
My hairs are really easy... straights... Thick... I am 33 years old and was wearing short hairs, long hairs... Nobody messed them like today...
It is a shame, do not ever go there.... Or maybe if you want to look like a dog which cut his hairs by itself!!! Because it is what I am feeling like!
I adore this place. It's great. I am someone who only goes to the salon every couple of months. I just go to get my ends trimmed and my hair straightened. I have very large curly hair and Pauline works wonders. She's very nice and she only cuts enough to keep my hair healthy. Most stylists are too scissor happy and pride themselves in "the cut" i'm trying to grow my hair out and get annoyed with stylists who cut too much and try and convince me that it's because i have 4 inches of split ends...when I don't. Pauline cuts only the dead ends, it's never too much, always precise and my hair always comes out looking amazing. She gave me a simple tip to help me grow my hair out and its most certainly been working. I'm very happy. This is now my home salon.
Great Experience at The Heights Salon, Must go!.
I was in desperate need of a hair salon after trying place after place with no desire to return. I found out about The Heights Salon and after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try and I can't express how satisfied I am!!!! First, the atmosphere was so calm, cool, modern, and inviting. Second, the staff were friendly, in-trend, and vibrant.
The quick summary: Joshua, who I now refer to as 'my stylist', is INCREDIBLE. I've received so many compliments on my new cut and I am so grateful that talented people such as himself exist and are willing to help people FEEL beautiful and confident.
The detailed version for those who think it's impossible to find a great salon (this was me BEFORE Joshua at The Heights Salon).
I walked in and was greeted by, Josh, and immediately, I felt as though everything was about me and my hair from that moment on. I've been so turned off by salons that rush you to get shampooed without looking at what your hair's doing. The first 10 minutes was spent in the chair while Joshua played with styles and listened to me talk about my hair. Many times stylists ask "so what do you want"? Everyone doesn't always know what they want! Sometimes we look for direction, what might look good, what cuts would compliment face-shape etc. That is EXACTLY how the first 10 minutes in the chair went- BEFORE WASHING. Josh recommend this new, chic, modern look that totally works with my face!
I've read great things about other staff members, but from my experience, I can only comment on Joshua. I would absolutely recommend him- he is passionate about his work and takes pride in making people look as good as they can. I would never have thought I could pull off an edgy do, but with his advice and expertise- i feel great, confident, modern, and extremely pleased with my hair. No regrets, only loving it more and more!
Great Salon, Great Experience.
I've been to about 6 salons in NY since moving here last year from DC, three in Manhattan and 3 in the Brooklyn Heights area. I do like to relax when I go to the salon, and I like my salon to be clean and the people to be pleasant.
I didn't think it would be that difficult, because I'm a really simple girl. Not too picky, not too difficult to please. But most of the salons I went to were either dirty, music too loud or displeasing, or the people working at those salons didn't seem to care about their customers.
Where the other salons fell short, The Heights Salon came through with flying colors. From the reception, to the shampoo, to the stylist, to how they maintain the salon, everything was perfect. When I try a new place, I like to come about 20 minutes early to study the customers and how the salon interacts with them. Everyone looked great, and their faces told me they were really happy.
Needless to say, I was also really happy with my color and cut (and the wine). This is a well run place, with really knowledgeable people who love what they do.
I will definitely be back.
Not the most appealing. Surprised by the lack of cleanliness in certain areas of the salon. I was there in the morning and im guessing the person who closed didnt have time to clean throughly because there was dust bunnies that were on the floor and didnt take the trash out... Not the most appealing salon.
Only one star deserved. The whole experience was very very mediocre. The hairstylist was late for the appointment i had scheduled, the color of my hair wasnt what i really wanted and the store wasnt entirely clean, saw some dust bunnies here are there. Not worth my money.
Not very appealing. ...........
completely normal experience.
My experience was fine. I also got color and also by Rafael. The price was very inexpensive, and he and the other employees were nice. I don't know what to say about everyone else's experience, as it seems a very mixed bag from these reviews.
The problem is that every salon in the city has a "I hate this place"... "horrible people" AND "I LOVE this place".. "the BEST people" - so I honestly never know what to think.
Maybe I got lucky, or the others got very unlucky?
Brooklyn heights salon.
Unbelieaveaby bad experience.
I was kicked out by the owner Rafael only because i told him i didnt like the hair color, after showing him excatly what I did and did not want from the magazine for two hours. He told me I was messing with the wrong person and "if this its the color gold shoot me". I asked for the owner as I didn't know it was him and remarked " I'm the owner baby", signaling the open door I had to leave with my hair wet in a day cold windy day. Crying and asking him why I was a brat, he just kept going telling me to leave his store. How do you justify anyone treating you like that in a public place - this is far the worst experience I have ever had with any serviced based business.
Excellent Service at The Heights Salon!!!.
My husband was laid off from his job last month and we decided I shouldn't spend as much money as I usually did on my hair...at least until he finds another job. I usually get highlights, color, haircuts, and conditioning treatments and paid a bundle for it.
Knowing that I could never do my own hair, and save every penny like my husband wants (never going to happen) I decided with some trepidation, to try a less expensive place in my neighborhood rather than go to my usual salon in Manhattan. And my experience was fantastic. Really nice salon, friendly service, and the best highlights and cut I've ever had. I really thought that I had to pay a lot to have the best. But I'm so glad I was proven wrong. Not only did the Heights do a better job, but I paid only about half what I used to pay. Its been a couple of weeks and the compliments still keep coming. Love it!!!
What luck I had on my first try to have found this place! Now I don't have to worry so much about cutting my hair budget and settling for less. I've cut my hair budget and my hair has never felt so soft and looked so healthy and natural. Sorry to say for my old salon in Manhattan that I won't be going back. Loyalty is not worth that kind of money, so I'm sticking with the Heights even when my husband finds another job.
This experience taught me a lesson to not judge anything just by price. And now it's time to re-evaluate every other expensive expense in my life, and I hope to have as much luck as I've had finding a less expensive alternative as I did with this salon.
