Citysearch Editorial Review. Given that it's a venture from Sam Mason--Brooklyn local, former boy-genius pastry chef at wd-50 and host of "Dinner with the Band"--everyone expects this Williamsburg bar to be a big deal, but it's intentionally the opposite. With blues and country on the juke, lots of beer and whiskey behind the stick, and Americana on the walls, Lady Jay's is more like the Marlboro Man. An old shuffle-bowling machine and a good-sized yard lined with benches are the bar's only non-essential amenities, except for one that is increasingly rare: an absence of gimmicks.
