I tried this restaurant out last summer and have been back at least 5 times. I love the lasagna & the pasta dishes they have are superb and make my afternoon much better then Traviata, heights cafe & Monty's.
River can swim it. I have been here two weekends in a row and was very ecstatic. The ambiance, service and food work really well it makes traviata look ridicules. lasagna and the pasta taste really superb. I will come back real soon happen to love River deli it even makes oh my pasta on Montague st look ridicules. It is also in a fantastic location which will work in the summer because there are two parks right next block over. I will be back in the summer for sure.
Great for the nabe.
We live in the neighborhood and eat here about once every 2 weeks. The atmosphere is very nice. Warm and welcoming on a quiet corner in Brooklyn Heights. The owners are almost always there to greet diners.
The pappardelle is light and flavorful, the calamari is always crisp and delicious. The meat platter is great and the salads are simple and fresh. The fennel salad is our favorite. The best though are the specials. I have probably had the dorado 5x and it has always been fresh and delicious. When they have the fish stew, it is amazing.
I couldn't be happier to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. It does fill a void. It is tasty, comfortable and has great prices too.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Located on a quaint cobblestone street in the heart of historic Brooklyn Heights, this Sardinian wine bar and restaurant specializes in regional Italian dishes with an emphasis on seafood. Although the restaurant is housed in a landmark building, with both its windowed façade and name borrowed from the previous occupants, this relaxed hangout is anything but your local bodega. Unlike other neighborhood spots, with its close proximity to Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens, River Deli attracts a younger, hipper crowd of locals looking to unwind with a glass of wine and nibble on authentic island dishes like mussels in white wine sauce and malloreddus sardi alla campidanese--a traditional Sardinian pasta with sausage, tomato sauce and pecorino cheese.
