Best bike shop in Park Slope.. Joe added two bikesmiths to his place. They were very polite and accommodating. I took my new bike in for a tune up and they even let me stay and watch. They explained what they were doing and make helpful suggestions. Their price was very reasonable. I learned a lot more about how to maintain my bike. Great shop and nice knowledgeable people, what else do you need?
Citysearch Editorial Review. At this one-man, home-based shop in Park Slope, bikesmith Joe Nocella--an architect by day--builds custom fixed gear and road bikes for a surprisingly nominal fee. After an initial appointment to design the bike and pick out parts, 718 will send you a spreadsheet detailing the prices for every piece from the frame to the chain, all of which you'll get at wholesale--the only additional charge is $100 to build the bike (plus tax on the parts). Best of all, the labor on any subsequent tune-ups, repairs and upgrades is free, and parts can be ordered wholesale through 718 Cyclery for life. The process can take a couple of weeks, but the result is a one-of-a-kind bike with what amounts to a lifetime warranty.
