Citysearch Editorial Review.
From the owners of Fette Sau (across the street) and Spuyten Duyvil (next door), this fryer-centric meatery makes for a heart-stopping trifecta on the corner of Metropolitan and Havemeyer. Aside from being a horrible place to meet a vegetarian, St. Anselm would be a great set for a horror flick, what with the dozens of rusty saws hanging from the ceiling and walls and the roiling deep fryers, though it does have a certain tool-shed charm. Also menacing is the "Nasty Bits" section of the menu, where you can get beer-battered brain or fried gizzard confit and other de rigeur offal, and the rest of the menu isn't exactly kosher, either. Think deep-fried hot dogs, gravy burgers and other delights, washed down with local wine or craft beers from the eight taps at the bar.
