Sister bar to the beloved Brooklyn Social, Henry Public is a throwback to old-school Brooklyn.
Peek through the frosted glass front windows into this saloon and you’ll likely picture a past life in which Walt Whitman was a regular. White enamel walls, hardwood floors and dangling antique pendant lamps complete the theme. Although you might expect typical Brooklyn hipsters lurking inside, Henry Public’s location on the border between Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights draws attracts more of the area’s good-looking yuppies. In the front room, marble-topped pedestal tables and booths surround an L-shaped zinc bar. Bookshelves divide the bar area from the quaint dining room in the back.
