Subterranean spot serves serious, locally sourced cuisine.. Tucked below Rose Live Music on a quiet stretch of Grand Street in Williamsburg, Vutera is a hidden find that radiates relaxed bonhomie. Rustic wooden furniture, incredibly low ceilings and stone walls all give the underground space a romantic vibe. Chef Molly Del Monte brought her simple, seasonal approach to cooking over with her from Little Giant, where she served as sous chef. Her menu lands somewhere between Mediterranean and New American cuisine, with a supple parsnip gnocchi accented with spiraling fiddlehead ferns and a flavorful bavette steak--all the more impressive when you consider that her tiny kitchen contains but four burners.
