Best Southern Food in Brooklyn.
I'm from New Orleans and when I eat their shrimp and grits I swear I'm 10 years old again. I've searched for a great southern restaurant all over this city and nothing beats the Star. Cornbread, Dr. Pepper Ribs, all amazing. If I lived closer, I'd eat here every week. Even without reservations, it's my favorite place for celebration/holiday dining.

Smart Southern food.
Joaquin Baca was a partner and co-chef at the now-famous Momofuku restaurants, so it makes sense that expectations would run high for his first venture without culinary celebrity David Chang. His Brooklyn restaurant, however, is a modest endeavor, consisting of a coal-burning oven, a twangy alt-country soundtrack and 42 seats packed into a small space on a quiet Williamsburg street. Baca’s modern Southern cuisine lacks Momofuku’s post-fusion flash, but dishes like soft buttermilk biscuits, bacon-laden mac and cheese, Dr. Pepper ribs and fried pig tails are all executed with care, in a style that’s homey and casual with a refined touch.
